off road 35:00 [2] 2.5 mi (14:00 / mi)

Just a jog round Purdown, to turn the legs over

off road 1:38:00 [3] 7.3 mi (13:25 / mi)

Ran with Mark and Alice, Chris and Helen from Hoel Gerrig, diversion to go round the Reservoir, up the hill and along ridge onto Twmbalwm which was unfortunately shrouded in mist, down and back via canal. A jolly run and jolly good lunch to top a jolly day. Felt ok with steady pace, just a bit snotty and heavy breathing. Still in oxygen debt hours later causing country amnesia

Note

Feeling a bit grotty -almost unbelievably another cold coming on. (Decided I should log as perhaps a pattern but currently might be easier to log when I am ok). Starting to think I might have Covid of .some kind, but lateral flow checks ok

Went to Caerwent, to take a look at Controllers concerns, nothing I would worry about -some mapping work to be done and some construction on fence crossings but basically guys doing a good job.

Did not sleep Weds, awful Thursday but then slept well and much better on Friday. So negative for Covid and went to Wales

hill efforts 1:07:19 [4] 5.0 mi (13:28 / mi)

Purdown 6x daffodil hill. Running condition have improved so much with the dry weather. Its so much easier than when you are struggling to go upwards rather than slide backwards and shoes are not carrying a couple of kgs of Purdown's finest. Ran up to the monument to celebrate afterwards

Monday Jan 24, 2022 #

off road 1:07:32 [3] 6.0 mi (11:15 / mi)

Run from Blaise car park pm -condition near ideal if a bit on the chilly side, Tried pretty hard and through I was on for a better time than I achieved. However all training in Blaise is good training.

orienteering race 1:25:18 [5] 10.1 km (8:27 / km)

Wim galloppen from Ocknell camp site in the New Forest, the same car park but a different venue including a run round a section to south of the dual carriage way. In many ways this was all that the November Classic was not, some track sections but lots of running straight through natural forest or open but avoiding heavy heather and lone trees.
A bit slow and lethargic right from the start, lots of marsh that was a bit of a struggle. Although no zip I did keep going. I was quite pleased at the end and my route gadget was pretty straight. But it turns out I was 29th or 30th on all the legs 2 through to 14 where I did pick up a bit. (out of 30!) Perhaps it was not coincidental that this was the first time I saw anyone out on my course. At 26/30 mid table mediocrity seems a loft ambition
