Great morning today! Felt like a caged animal going in and ended up going out pretty fast! I'm used to it being a struggle from the start but honestly today I didn't feel it get hard until the bottom of the figure 8. That was when I started to feel I needed to work and that's when Bekk's caught up to me and gained some distance on me fairly quickly. I snapped out of it and told myself that I couldn't dwell on the fact that it no longer felt easy and I needed to push if I wanted to improve. I pushed a good amount but not the most i ever had. The last part of the race was a bit of a shock to my legs again. I did find a kick in the last straight so it must have been a mental thing as well. Take away from today is that I discovered I'm the fittest I've ever been for this time of year but that I'm craving more practice with racing and dealing with the hardest part of the race...which for me is at about 65-85% of the way through. Big jump from last year :)
