O-cup Eliminator - Patrick said this would be one of the most difficult o-cup races ever, he was correct. Started off ok, but got flipped around in the first box and took a while to relocate. Once I did it was pretty smooth after that, came out of the forest a little bit too far east for the map change. Took it slow on the second map, saw some of the guys whipping through the forest leaving the box as I was just entering, don't know how they run so fast in there - I definitely need to work on my off trail running as speed was a big factor for me today! One small bobble in the box, followed the wrong depression but otherwise clean. Nice to get to the third map and see it was all trail junctions! Nice way to finish (and happy I finished)!

Overly competitive game with some of the staff at work when the boss was away. Did something to my back, but nothing a bit of stretching shouldn't cure. Felt like a kid again.

Orienteering 36:00 [3]

Final x league of the season at Lowville. Started off with a plan that I thought would be quite successful, keep the more difficult dogbones together and split the easier to maximize points. Went well to begin but lost a lot of time on the first black diamond (9) by not looking close enough at the map and having to climb up a rather slippery and densely forested hill. After losing a bunch of time there, needed to grab as many as possible so plan was out the window. Looking forward to continuing x-league in the spring season when it will no longer be dark! I really have a hard time refocusing on the map when it is dark out, hope this will help and allow for more flow!

Road run - felt sluggish, have felt like this cold thing is creeping back; have been tired and had a sore throats for the last week. But warm and dry so nice to get out!

O-Cup - Fantastic map and great conditions at Starky Hill. I started off alright, making a few small mistakes on my way to the first box. I decided to do the a-A dog bone so lost the pack right away and had a hard time reminding myself to move at a race pace. Misread the contour lines on the fifth control and lost a bit of time there, got into the box okay but so many elephant paths I stopped focusing and ended up at the wrong spot a few times, I would have thought that there was a magnet at 118 pulling me towards it. Once I forgot about them and refocused on my map things went better. Nice to be on a new technical map, lots of fun! Thank you Gators.
