With my cold still lingering and tired legs from yesterday I decided a full long run wouldn't be best. From Flotterstone over the Carnethy ridge then dropping down to the Howe. Climbed back up Carnethy and Turnhouse then back down to the car. Ran most of the climb (very slowly). Surprised to find I did it nearly 10 minutes faster than when I last did this route despite feeling pretty slow.

Set off at a fast but comfortable pace. Scout came past me just before the first climb so just used her to pace the first one. Pulled away from the group before the descent. A few people came past on the first descent and on the flat section by the road. Managed to get past all of them and open a gap on the radical road. Working on reeling in a HBT guy and Andrew Gilmore. Got past HBT on the 2nd crag climb but he came past again on the descent. Couldn't catch up to Andrew. Top 10 finish I think. Possibly about 8th. Very happy with how I ran. About 2 minutes faster than last year and felt like I was running much better. Only walked a little bit the 2nd time up the crags

First club handicap race of the year. Was 3rd last to set off just ahead of Jasmin and Konrad. Caught up with Craig pretty quickly and opened a gap on the climb to the col. Managed to maintain that for the rest of the race. Solo running until near the top of Castlelaw then I started to pass the earlier starters. Struggling on the castlelaw climb but feeling good for the rest of it. Run time was only 20 seconds or so slower than Konrad

Cold started to develop last night and I've felt pretty rotten all day. Felt ok racing but feeling rubbish after. Can't stop shivering even after a hot shower.

Running the Hunters bog trot route with Alison and Ross before the race this weekend. Wrong climb up the crags the first time round but all fine apart from that. Really felt like I was struggling on the uphills and my knee was bothering me a bit.

Late session. 5am start today to head down to the Lake District for a training thing with Lyon equipment. Not too tired as I napped on the drive there and back.
Something to try and remind my legs what speed is.
1 mile warmup. 10X90s with 1 min jogging recoveries then a 0.5ish mile cool down.
First 2 and last 2 reps were uphill and the rest all downhill or flat. Bit sluggish on the first couple but feeling good after that. Uphill reps about 5:40 pace. Flats and downhill all somewhere round about 5:20 pace.
