Running long 1:28:45 [3] 14.44 km (6:09 / km) +205m 5:44 / km
shoes: Saucony White Thingys

I decided I needed another OFD this weekend, so which event would I attend? Last years Hagaby on Irishtown convinced me to stay home today. It was along run instead. Yesterday's course on One Tree Hill was a good one thanks to Peter Searle. Evan reported on the Irishtown event.. not much use of the mining detail this year either. And punches rather than SI. I felt happy enough with the decision. Or maybe I'm just getting lazy about driving.

My alternative to Irishtown was the standard No. 7 to Marne long run. Once again, as I topped out on the big climb and the views unfolded, I felt an uncharacteristic sense of elation. This is a really special run. Starts with 30 minutes of gradual downhill through bush between two channels. That's a great warm up. Fifteen more minutes with a undualtions along the channel, then a 100 metre climb up the spur to Marne in three pinches. Then a very up and down traverse of the Big Hill ridgeline (another 100 metres of climb) with great views along at times narrow ridge lines. Then a gradual downhill for 20 minutes back to the car , past the High Level Reservoir, making the perfect warm down for the day. I doubt I could design it better. Part of it ios private land and the long term availability is an issue.

I had a domestic requirement to get a paint of coat on the bathroom, before 2 hour drying wait and the final coat. That wait was allocated to the run. Early in the morning the sky was blue and cloudless and I was looking forward to the same on the run. But, it clouded over and cooled. However, the blue sky reappeared for ten minutes while I did the main climb and ridge line. That was fun. No Jools to share it. Sore back after yesterdays OTH debacle. She reckoned 80 minutes on the course was a long run anyway. She showed me her 'route' last night. I am wondering whether I should put it up on Route Gadget on the sly. Does the crowd have any recommendations?

Walking 25:00 [1] 3.0 km (8:20 / km)

Walk to the shop with Jools. It was the best exercise she could manage today. Pretty brisk still.

Hey, this was a day with FLOW.. until I realised it was happening about half-way through the race. Then I started to slip, so concentrated and avoided HUBRIS. One Tree Hill is Jools Bermuda Triangle it seems. I wasn't allowed to discuss her run with her afterwards, and didn't dare mention how happy I was with mine.

Oh dear. Back to running after a three day absence. Not sure if I am emulating Liggo or Leepback.

Easy morning run. This is a ninth consecutive day of running, but it made sense to run today. It meant I could pass the 50k per week mark for the first time in quite a while. A year ago that was not a benchmark, just standard. I also suspect the next two days will be run free due to work trips. Further, Jools informed me that our Sunday morning target is easily logging half marathons. I think I can amend my comment last week about her still making my heart race to still aching for her. Maybe I should get "Love hurts" on the iPod.
