Running, mostly off road 23:11 [2] 5.16 km (4:30 / km) +50m 4:17 / km

Short jog through Hazlehead. Stiff for the first few minutes then getting gradually better.
2 PM

Running, mostly off road warm up/down 43:00 [2] 8.5 km (5:04 / km) +130m 4:42 / km

Warm up lap with Kyle plus some strides and more running. Felt pretty well loosened off by the start of the race. Cool down after with Jacob, back a bit stiff to begin with but improving. Sudden energy crash directly after finishing the cool down!

East Champs XC. Could have been a lot worse after the lack of fast running recently. First two laps were really comfortable and I was swapping the lead with Jamie a lot of the way, even made a few faster surges to split the big group up. Starting the final lap was when it suddenly changed and I just had nothing in the legs so was hanging on the back of the group and in 5th. The gap closed slightly on the hill but once on the final 1km everyone disappeared. The amount of time I lost in the final 500m was ridiculous, think I lost 10s in the final 200m alone! My fitness didn’t feel as bad as it could have so that’s a positive, I just can’t seem to run XC well and am lacking top end speed. If the back holds up after today then hopefully I’ll be able to keep progressing with sessions and be fit in a few weeks.
