First I got slower and slower in the 36 humidex. After 4k the rain storms arrived and I was soaked through and through. Sitting in wet clothes for 2h on bus in traffic after the run across town.

Boilermaker Road Race, Utica NY

This was Boilermaker #19 and the final one. Wind and misty rain made for perfect conditions for me. Kyle ran a personal best. It took me 7:30 to get to start and Kyle needed 14 minutes to get to start. I wonder why I didn't see him pass.

Emotions overwhelmed me as thousands of voices joined the trumpeter for the anthem. I cryed when I ran by Kelly's popsicle stand for the final time which is funny because I don't think I ever stopped for popsicle in that fastest mile on the course. The only break from pain through the race was on serious incline and I could focus on running rather than fear stability.

Poor Dan (this year's race crew) was slumped in the grass in the sun one mile from finish barely able to continue cheering with his voice exhausted.

I couldn't see through tears for most of kilometre 11. On the hospital hill, the Theme from Rocky was blasting. I just wanted to run in a small circle right there, for the rest of ever.

As much as I plan to enjoy the Tely10, no race has ever compared with the Boilermaker.

Dan and Kyle...I thank you!!!
