British Middle Champs - Walking

Beautiful views and a good area overall. Walked the first bit quickish (10:00min/km) but then knee started to hurt, so walked slower, but still finished and somehow not last. Still hurts now, but hoping to rest for a few weeks and get back to cycling and s&C (bit demotivated last week) and hopefully can be fit first/second week of uni to gradually increase training again. Frustrating now cos walking courses isn't great when you just want to run as fast as possible, but got to believe that next year I can be disciplined, stay fit and hopefully get some good results. Basically been not fit all year, but it's not that bad, others have it worse.

Started off fine, was able to see the Whaley Bridge Dam from the start, but slight error to one, should have gone over the top and same for two, then clean through seven, where a form line confused me, by reducing the prominence of the gully, but not too bad. Slightly off 9 up the hill, but decided this was quickest for me and easiest to climb, reducing pressure on my knee. Didn't focus to 20 and took a slightly linger route, but otherwise was very clean. Overall, not too bad, but still need to cut down on the smaller errors

Overall a really enjoyable weekend and 100% worth the trip :)

Orienteering 28:30 [3] 3.42 km (8:20 / km)

British Sprints - Walking

Nav all good, but couldnt run because of my knee, nice area and enjoyable course. Will update with route analysis, cos if I am not running then route choice and technique is important to improve on, using it as training

Actually, my route was completely clean, just a few tiny errors. At 8, was confused by some large skips and went the wrong way round to the corner of the building, just needed to check the control descriptions. Similar at 2, but got away with it. Got a bit confused by 21 with the weird non-circular building, but only a tiny mistake. other than that pretty good.

British Sprint Champs Final - Walking

Fastest run in, lol

Actually really pleased with this, nav was really good (at lower speed obvs) and overall enjoyable day. Would have been good to compete against Ryan for the Bronze, but will get another chance next year, just need to be fitter/not injured

Clean through 1, then picked the fences surrounding two early, so route was good. Went to two fine and then chose the optimal route to 3, if control flow is accounted for. at 6 opted for the non-covered route which worked fine and then went slightly wrong to 7 as my route was direct, but involved going up and down stairs, whereas the other just had a low wall to cross. Route to 8 was maybe 10m longer than the other way, but could maintain speed through the control, so probably about even. Through 9 was maybe 20m off the optimal route through the zig-zag residential blocks. Maybe went the wrong way to 17, but everything else was clean. Overall Nav was pretty much perfect and would have done pretty well if could have done the same nav running
