Running 1:30:00 [3]

I was missing the track, some solitude, and some mindless plodding in difficult terrain so ran from Trigg Beach to City Beach and back on the soft sand. Felt good to feel tired muscles again.

Yoga 35:00 [2]

Yoga and core work on the lawn overlooking Trigg Beach.

Swimming 30:00 [2] 1.6 km (18:45 / km)

Back in the pool.

1500 m swim
then a bit of a 'flop' as Jen calls it, mixed in with some fly.

Running 1:00:00 [4] 12.0 km (5:00 / km)

My first real, pack-free, run on pavement and it felt......well.....a bit strange. Surprisingly, I was able to hold a decent pace despite it feeling all a bit "wrong". Time to start working on getting my running stride back and maybe even give a few thoughts toward that marathon in October.

Walking 1:30:00 [2]

Another little leg stretching power-walk with my mum. It's wasn't the Bibbulmun Track, but I'm still able to appreciate Foxes Lair in Narrogin.

Walking 45:00 [2]

An easy early morning stroll along Middleton Beach foreshore because I woke up at 4:27 am as usual, and I wasn't quite sure what to do with myself on day 1 post Bibbulmun trek.

Bibbulmun run/trek 10:30:00 [3] 54.0 km (11:40 / km)

West Cape Howe Hut to finish. Yah!! 20 days in total. Lost 14 lbs of weight that I didn't really have to lose in the first place. Adventure of indescribable proportions. Solitude and silence. Extremely challenging - the hardest thing I've ever done physically, so therefore mentally as well. Only 1 day later than planned after adding a rest day and then having to backtrack a section because a hut didn't have water and I had to go to bed hungry and thirsty. Lots to reflect upon.

This place we live in is SPECTACULAR!

Note

Decided to take a rest day in Pemberton.
Feeling good now and ready to hammer through the last 410 km to Albany. Hoping to be there by next Thursday....just 7 days left.
Felt a bit spoilt with wine tasting, fancy lunch and lazing about in sunshine today among the lovely Karri forest.

It's going well. Still no blisters. Loving the trail, the pain, the exhaustion, the solitude, the surroundings, the people I meet, the simplicity.....how will I ever get back to real life?

Running 15:00 [2]

Soft sand, barefoot beach run to warm up before very sweet body surfing session at Trigg. Got pummled a few times.

Orienteering 21:34 [5]

Nav Dash #4 - Minim Cove.
A hot afternoon down in Mosman Park and the sea breeze ironically blew in as soon as I crossed the line. Had a fairly good run, except I definitely feel a little frumpy at the moment after my 'pre-bibbulmum' training strategy to stack on a few kilos. Actually.....that's just my excuse. Definitely not running as swiftly as I normally do. I blundered control #4 as I just kind of ran into the general area and hoped for the best. Unfortunatley, it required a bit more careful map reading than that. Lost a good 90 seconds there. Then things went really well with good flow through the controls. Was reading ahead and trying to stay in front of Brian (?) who was chasing me down on the long running stretches. Then I buggered up the second to last control because I lost focus coming out of the control before that. It doesn't take much to screw up sprint orienteering.....it's a very fragile sport! Lost about 40 seconds there. Once again, was suprised to get the win and today, 5th overall.

Will miss the next race, but I'll be back for Hale School. In the meantime... I disappear for the next 19 days of epic adventure.

Running 18:00 [4] 4.0 km (4:30 / km)

A short run is better than no run.
I only had 15 min to spare this morning so powered out the door like a racehorse and belted around my 4km loop. That's a great way to start a day in which I'm probably going to consumed by grade 1s.
