Glencoe Marathon (minus 600m?)
Wow what a race. Really stunning start to the day but so chilly, 2°C. Set off in 2nd wave at a steady pace up the road to A82. Crossed over and loved the twisty single track up the valley.

Bog across to bottom of Devil's Staircase was horrendous, a mile of ankle/shin deep sludge and sometimes sinking up to knee.
Loved descent to top of forest above Kinlochleven but the forest track descent was steep and relentless, really hard work on the legs.

Climb up out of KLL was tough, felt so hot and very busy with lots of Half Marathoners in the way, lots of squeezing past slower folk.
Lairaig Mor was no fun, I'd run far enough and had loads to go, such a long valley and no shelter, very glad of the water stop.

Once I got through Lundavra I enjoyed more of the single track again but not the pressure of trying to get in under 4h30.
The descent along forest tracks into Glen Nevis was again brutal like the KLL descent, fast and hard underfoot but I had to race on.

Delighted to get in with a 4h21 but bit gutted it didn't register full mara distance.

Back was tight at times, R hip sore along Lairaig Mor, L knee gave me some niggles but otherwise not too shabby.

Now time to try and get back looked at through work Private Medical scheme.
