Orienteering (Easter Day 2) 2:02:00 [3] 15.1 km (8:05 / km) +520m 6:54 / km

At Highlands again, came 13th (only thanks to a bunch of MPs/dns-es). Started off by screwing up the short #1 by a couple of mins. And then very quickly found I could hardly run in the terrain. My hammy was sore as it was and I find I have no flexibility/strength in hips/glutes - so I can't lift and lean well, and end up being super cautious on top of that. So it ended up being a long slow jog. I almost quit after 80mins as I had kind of had enough but then the course opened out a bit and I found I ticked off the remaining controls relatively ok. I did make a point of acknowledging how beautiful the forest was though and appreciated Hoggster's challenging course. Took a couple of tumbles near the end and pulled the already tight hammy, so that's great. Finished feeling fresh having not really got going at any point. Not sure what to do with orienteering from here as the terrain running is a real problem for me but generally staying fit is ok. Ah well - UTA 22 in just under 5weeks so I'll focus on that for now.

Orienteering (Easter Day 1) 57:00 [3] 6.8 km (8:23 / km) +190m 7:21 / km

At Highlands, came 26th (out of 30!). Cracking granite terrain but real tough to run through - for me at least. Started off ok and was in 10th at #3. Then lost 15mins on a 1min leg!!! Tbf it was quite vague but my relocation skills were atrocious. Very nearly gave up as lost but happened to stumble across the flag. So I had to keep going really. Rest of the course was relatively ok but unsurprisingly it was quite hard to find any motivation. In the end 15mins quicker wouldn't have been a terrible time. Not sure what's going on with me and orienteering at the moment - certainly having a lot of life distractions doesn't help and the logistics for the day with an early punching start meant I didn't have many friends catching me up that may have reduced the time loss (altho I did bump into Simon briefly who was no help as he was also lost). Fun times.

Warm up only. Although I did take Daisy around the v easy course, also shadowing Florence and Elodie, afterwards - which included 1.5km to the start.

Orienteering (Easter Prologue) 16:59 [5] 4.1 km (4:09 / km) +20m 4:03 / km

Mass start sprint loop race around ANU, which was not part of the overall Easter competition. Struggling to see the point in this race. It was fun in comparison to a 5km running race - but then again, so are a lot of things in life but that doesn't mean it's worth making NOL races out of them. But hey ho I'm old and probably am missing something. As it was I did enjoy it (again relative to a running race) and was fairly pleased with how I felt and how I stayed in contact with the map. I think I was a touch closer to the leaders than I would have been in a straight 5km race. Came 16th, first old person not a Dent.

Evening jog around the playing fields while waiting on pizza. Did a few 1min reps and didn't feel too bad.

Plod on the trails. Definitely glad to be out running and appreciated legs actually feeling ok / uninjured. But still fairly poorly and weak. Just going to play Easter by ear I think.

Still coughing at night and another terrible night of sleep. Woke up with gastro too - so the plan of intervals was quickly canned and I took the day off work generally feeling tired and rubbish.
