MTB O race (Scott Scale 30) 2:02:23 [4]
shoes: Specialized Mtb

Long distance Champs Pickering Brook.finish time approx at the moment.
Pretty warm day out so was going to be testing.Had to start first so couldn't use other bike tracks from in front as a helping tool.
Got the first 5controls ok though then couldnt locate a track below control 6 so ended going up the top and down which i should of done first.
May of taken the longer way to 7 via the top of the map.8 to 9 was always going to be interesting and after looking at the map several times after still tthink i went the right way.Went over the bars in front of Ken Post heading to 9 as abit of a laugh.Started counting chickens heading to 10 even with the stuff around at 6 thought i was a good chance of winning then like normal disaster struck. Was on thre right track to 10 but then came across a track on my left and thought shit ive gone too far and missed the control.Headed back but couldnt see it so thought i must be on the wrong track.Searched around a little circular track that leads into 10,went up into the bush as thought i saw a track leading up there, back down and headed out towards 3 then thought this is not the right way as was heading s/e back to the start again stuffed around the circle the back out my original track to where i stopped last time and realised that that was the fork to 10 and 11,GEE did i swear then i call myself a DH,could all most of shead a tear but hey but not me.Was so close to the control from the start but talked myself out of it,so so obvious the way to go as well.Probably the easiest control on the whole course to get as well.On the day i rode pretty dam hard and my lower back is very sore today.Anyway congrats to tRicky and the rest and thanks to Simmo,Duncan and co for taking alot of there time to set a great course as without them we wouldnt be out there iam sure.Cheers.Next year??

If any one can put up route gadget that would be great as didn't get a chance after the event to see which way the others went.Alot of time could of been made and lost from contol 8-9 though looks pretty obvious.

Ski Paddle-River 51:10 [3]

Night time river paddle with Fletch and his new ski.Complained that his arms were sore from lifting his puny weights.Pah
30 degrees out dosnt get much warmer than that for a night paddle.

MTB Ride warm up/down 17:23 [2]

Warm up before on the soft pea gravel.

run(pram) 50:12 [3]
slept:7.0 shoes: Asics Gel 1110

Hunter morning pram run out to Maylands Bowling/Dragon boat club and back. Was pretty hot and humid.Spent 95% of the time wipping sweat from eyes.Gather that will be a prob later at the mtb o race as well.

MTB Ride warm up/down (Scott Scale 30) 15:00 [2]
shoes: Specialized Mtb

Bit of a warm up for once.Weather was pretty warm as well.

MTB O race (Scott Scale 30) 55:28 [4]
shoes: Specialized Mtb

State middle distance champs Smaile's Mill Cainya.Enjoying mtb o abit more of late though need to get rid of those bigger clangers on a couple of legs that cost me quite abit of time each time.
Do find it pretty hard to read the map on the go with it bouncing all over the place so alot of stopping in parts to check which way to go especially on the shorter more complex legs.Need to memorise more.
On the event it was a well set out course so congrats to Duncan and co.
Course was pretty flat in most parts so not that hard to ride.Came 2nd i think to tRicky with Tooms not that far behind in 3rd.

MTB Ride 52:34 [3]
shoes: Specialized Mtb

Ride home into an easterly wind.

Ski Paddle-River (Spirit Ski) 48:49 [4]

A very warm 26 out still for an evening paddle.Paddled from Banks 300mtrs towards Maylands before changing my mind and headed the other way.Saw a bloke ahead at Windan starting off and looking like he was going to do a hard rep so gave chase.Caught up to him half way to the Causeway and he said gee i better try harder which he did and it was on from there.Got level with him a few times but never really in front.
My effort lasted till the Causeway where i then stopped for a drink and to get my arms back and he continued on.He did though have a fibreglass ski.Was a pretty long effort though to hold.Continued on around Heirisson to the northern side and kinda merged with another paddler heading my way though he a 150mtrs ahead.Had an Anaconda shirt on and a Fenn Mako so thought it might of been Rob Limb for a while.Pretty much gave chase at my hardest and caught up nearly by the sandy beach before Windan where he pulled in so i continued on till Windan then abit easier to Banks.Hardest paddling efforts ive done and only went out for an evening cruise as such.
