Orienteering race 1:45:00 [3]
Long at West Point.
I was a bit nervous what the knee would feel like but it actually felt the best it had since the Raid. While running with Isak I did however realize it would be a long day. Once at the start line, my goal was to really focus on the orienteering knowing that as long as I have a momentum I will be able to finish. That was the goal and I was pretty successful; two mistakes and the odd hesitation but that's about it. Pace was however slower than at the Giant's Rib for example. Will Hawkins caught me between 4 and 5, but I couldn't stay with him for a meter.
Overall a successful weekend. Most importantly, Isak had a great time and has certainly improved; he will do this totally on his own soon. He just needs some more experience including relocation, decipher clue sheet and appreciation of distance but that will come with more races and ARK. Personally, another great weekend at WP. I ran here for the first time only two years ago but for some reason I have managed to do well here every time. This year, I pretty much nailed 52 out of 57 controls and no mistake bigger than one minute.
Now I just hope my knee will heal so I can get some running in and get the legs back.
