Pere Marquette trail race. My first. Wow, so tough and yet so fun. Got frustrated with myself as I didn't feel I was pushing myself hard enough. Started in wave 19 since it was my first so passed many people for quite a while. Then on some of the climbs it was easy to fall into walking them since everyone was and for me they were quite big. The trail was pretty sloppy by the time we got on it since it had rained but I had ice bugs on so that helped. Not a great time in my books.....but a good benchmark for next year. Avg overall time was 1:24 and avg. men's: 1:19 so at least I was better than that.
I just enjoyed the entire experience and can't wait for next year now that I know what to expect. 2nd in AG but should easily better that. Fun to be with family and friends and to hook up with a swimmer from the past who just happened to win the Masters division even though he hasn't run in a while.
Matzah Ball had a great race and it was fun to see him get his first place finish and to celebrate with some incredible bread pudding.
Wish there were more races like this around. It was one of the best.
