Cycling race (MBO Score) 4:00:00 [4] * 73.7 km (3:15 / km) +1450m 2:58 / km

MBO Score near Bassenthwaite. After about 2/3 I had to make a decision - what seemed on looked too short, so after chickening out twice last weekend went for a big one. Result - latest I've ever been back -50pts! Going for extra 40 points I immediately dropped a 10 to make time, then later on missed another 10 and a 20 and was still 15+ mins late. So should've gone for the short route and been back on time with the same score, I think in hindsight it wouldn't have been too short at all, it was just one of those days where everything took longer than expected. I wasn't alone however, lots of bad days being had, and actually if I was 22 seconds less late I still would've won!

Forgot strap-on so no HR info. Weirdly the moving time on the GPS was 3 secs below 4 hrs. I reckon that makes about 12 mins of opening gates!

Front brake needs something doing, some clunking under hard braking. And gears all over the shop, really frustrating, think that rear mech could be on its way out, I've changed everything else since Sweden and it still doesn't even work quite right on perfectly clean cables (which of course they weren't by the time I finished).

On a positive I've ridden quite a long way with a fair amount of climb and don't feel bad at all, no real harm done with yesterdays knee impact.

Loop around Tailbert and Swindale for yet another shake down ride. It's too wet to do that ride now, axle deep water in places. The rocky descent far too easy with shocks and tubeless tyres. Managed to knee my stem, with the bad knee of course. Originally I thought exactly the same spot as the Hungary one, but fortunately about an inch left. Currently under ice. The bike's running well now, just need to shorten the hoses but that can wait until off season, don't have any fluid currently.

First road bike outing for a while - did the Shap Fell & Tebay route. Didn't feel brilliant but there was a resonable headwind for the outbound hour so that didn't help, but time not bad considering low effort level. Been feeling a bit beaten up since physio on Weds - she's ironed out all the knots from the Open5 running.

Mainly a shake down ride for the new look Cube with new brakes, relaced front wheel and refitted shocks. A few tweaks required but all ok.

Team Tuesday from Melmerby. Legs felt a bit slow from the weekend's exertions, but actually pace was generally friendly tonight. Shame it wasn't last week when Sarah was there. It's always a muddy ride from Melmerby and tonight was no exception. I've seen it muddier but I think that was probably the wettest. Still at least there was no snow up top yet, and it is a great descent. Rear Elixir now back to the bar again after being bled Thursday, probably last ride for that ever.
