Run 30:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2022

Around the park, testing the (R) calf. Feeling tight at first but then fine after a few minutes. So that was good news. But then the left one tightened right up, while I was at the far end of the loop of course. So walked home from there. Hopefully will respond as well to another easy week as the other leg did, just annoying for it to be the 2 weeks that I could be getting out whenever I like!

Rowing warm up/down 5:00 [3] 1.09 km (4:36 / km)
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2020

Remembered for once this is a warm up and didn't push too hard (had just walked in from home so maybe didn't even need it)

A few things I've been struggling with seemed to be that little bit easier today

Walking 2:00:00 [1]

Around Arthurs Pass. Calf didn't like going down stairs but otherwise barely noticeable, and I don't feel it got worse over course of day, just a persistent knot kind of feel.

Run 32:00 [3]
shoes: X-talon 2022

Bottle Lake, set out to do the shorter loop (which from memory isn't much shorter than the usual). But calf started feeling super tight so for once was (eventually) sensible and called it quits before anything popped. Crossed paths with a stoat, couldn't see if what it was carrying was furry or feathery.

Run 1:40:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2022

Base builder. Just laps of Hagley because I didn't really feel like a long road run. But either staying off the paving as much as possible made it significantly harder or what ever was knocking me back a bit earlier in the week hasn't gone completely away, as this time started struggling at the hour mark. So might leave the target sitting at 100 minutes for the next one of these too. Right calf pretty sore at the end.

Run 1:16:38 [3]
shoes: X-talon 2022

Bottle lake circuit. After a near sleepless night, and a bit dehydrated thought this would be a bit of a battle. But basically matched last time round and while it definitely felt a slow pace, there wasn't any slipping down to a walk. Most of the ponds are gone and there was enough of an edge to the remaining ones I didn't need to get my feet wet. Might be a different story by the end of tomorrow though!

Note

Booster today. Only ill effect so far is a bit of a headache - must be all the increased data flow out to the world government tracking stations.

Run 53:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2022

Run from home to aunt's. Direct would be about 10 minutes so took an indirect way (aiming for a 40 min run) and managed to make it even less direct. Wouldn't say I was lost at all, just wasn't always where I expected to be!

Run hills 1:19:00 [3]
shoes: X-talon 2022

Almost but not quite the same as my last hill run from Sugarloaf, only this time I didn't 'accidentally' miss the turn to the Mt Vernon summit, and pushed a bit further past the previous turn point (I had thought at best it would be one or the other add-ons, not both, so more than a pass mark). Many of the uphills were battles though - I think it will be a while yet before I can stop cheating, and start at the bottom of the hills...

Tane can vouch that I was out there, though given where we met he might not be prepared to stand witness that I was actually running....

Gym-bunny session 40:00 [4]
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2020

Seemed to get through the routine fairly quickly even though it was fairly hard work today. So thought I'd add another machine to the list, just for fun (it wasn't)

Orienteering 30:09 [5] *** 3.2 km (9:25 / km) +5m 9:21 / km
spiked:20/22c shoes: Asics Trabuco 2020

Groynes - running full effort but probably slower than that would normally equate to with yesterday's run in the legs and initially was feeling the heat. Mostly easy controls but some interesting legs. Think I didn't take the best on the longest leg (3) because I missed seeing an easy way to shortcut the RH option, but probably would still have been close to even if it wasn't for a bit of unexpected wading on the LH option. Also wasn't decisive or accurate enough on 12, one of a couple of bush bash legs. Otherwise clean.

Orienteering 22:24 [3] *** 2.3 km (9:44 / km)
spiked:14/15c shoes: Asics Trabuco 2020

Did the short red as well, supposedly as a warm-down but of course still ended up pushing hard until running out of gas. Not quite as interesting as the long but still a couple of good route choice legs and a couple that looked like they should be but really only one viable option. And only 3 legs in common, one of which was the bush bash I felt I'd lost time on first time round, confirmed by being 20 seconds faster on more tired legs. Nearly lost a bit of time coming out of 5 and eye-balling a control that wasn't my 6, thankfully didn't go far in the wrong direction before clicking. Otherwise I think clean.

Run 1:35:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2022

Base builder. Usual Hagley lap, Mona Vale, Railway up to St James Park, then zig-zag home. Added 5 minutes over the target again (just, my inner pedant made me do a half lap of my building to claim 1:35 rather then let me round up a few seconds), and only started to really tire for those last 5 minutes.
