JK Sprint

Around 3-9 I found myself actively thinking about the ‘2 seconds per leg’ challenge, and it worked.
10 was frustrating if only because no-one else seems to have had the same issue. The control was between two uncrossable line features. The un-cut line and circle largely obscured a small gap in one of them, clearly the fastest way in. After stopping to look in detail, I concluded that there was probably not a gap, that the leg was a ‘trap’ and ran around a more secure route. It cost around 25secs. And I was more cautious for a few legs after that; my splitsbrowser line changes slope noticeably. In good light I still can’t see that there’s a gap and would do the same again. It’s difficult to know what to learn as a competitor but certainly should have put it behind me and got my ass in gear again more quickly. As planner/controller, it’s difficult to put too much time into cutting circles/lines.

Got the route choice leg wrong – planner beat me as I didn’t take account of the doubling back necessary to cross the west bridge which was entirely predictable by geeking beforehand – 15secs. As at British sprints a longer leg caught me out!

4th at control 9, finished 8th of 110ish.
I’m actually now looking forward to more sprint training ahead of future events. While its difficult or time consuming for anyone in our area to accumulate proper terrain experience, sprint training is accessible to all.
I need to think about extra precision in sprints. For example. It was easy in this case to run into the right courtyard and then work out how to get around the fixtures to the flag. In a couple of cases, seconds could be saved by looking more precisely at control position and navigating even more precisely. I guess the best do this aswell as having an extra 2 secs per leg of pace.
The passable wall symbol is unclear and needs to be changed, please.
