Event: SoSOL

Orienteering warm up/down 20:00 [3] 2.0 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: walshes

Warm up - did some jogging back along the drive at Dalmeny with Dad. The we ran harder on the way back into the wind to the car park to get the breathing going.
Did some drills and stretches.

Warm down - back along the drive and back with dad discussing ours courses.

Orienteering race 1:11:32 [4] *** 7.2 km (9:56 / km)
spiked:20/26c shoes: olway speed

Blue course at the sosol at Dalmeny.

Started off pretty well and clean and knew I had to watch going into the woods after being able to run so fast. First tricky control was in the wrong place which ment I ran past it and had to go back which put me off. Ran too hard and ended up going all the way to the top of a ditch too early. Lost about 3mins. Then managed to get back into it and remembered that Dad had told me not worry about being slower in the woods as everyone would be and I would get my chance to run at the end. From 17-25 was basically a run:) well there was some tricky legs but I felt like I was flying and flowing well through them.

And i beat Dad on the run it:) hah!

I realised today I orienteer in 2 ways....one well when I'm in CALM and then after a mistake I am like ahhhhh and all bad at orienteering and just make more mistakes. In all my races recently my little mistake has been followed by a bigger one because I go to fast so I am going to try hard to prevent this in the future by maybe taking it a little easier than I want to on the next leg.....see how things go.

core 30:00 [2]

Usual session x2

Plus I added in some new ones with the ball (arches, curls, tucks etc).

Orienteering (planning) 1:00:00 [1] ***
shoes: walshes

Dad and I went to the wooded part at the eildons to plan for a club training day in Feb.
We made up courses which ment us doing a lot of compass and pacing as that is what we were planning.
Then we did somemore practise of that out on the hill as prep for another course.
We also mapped a small area of trees....:)
Really felt that it was benefitial as my barings have been a bit off again recently, it sharpened me up and made me more confident with them again.

Running (terrain/track) 53:59 [3] 9.0 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: asics purple

Off on study leave and even though it was pouring with rain I went for a nice run.
Down the trim track, along a68 which wasn't nice getting splashed by the lorries, to bonjedward and then up the road and into lanton. Along the bike tracks and then had to cut through the wood and up the ride up the hill and back down the track to the field home. Was very mucky:)

stretches 20:00 [1]

Did lots of stretches for mainly my quads but did some touching toes stuff too.

Strength and Conditioning 1:15:00 [3] 1.0 km (1:15:00 / km)
shoes: asics purple

Usual gym session with the blast of 0.5km on the rowing machine 2:05 and the resistance was high. Also ran 0.5km on the tredmill inbetween sets, its sooooo boring, i'd much rather be outside, feels so weird.

Did a lot of the session with only one shoe on....because I'm cool:)

shoes: asics purple

Ran to the gym and back.
