Cycling long 2:29:33 [3] 53.35 km (2:48 / km)

Out on the bike (mountain bike with road tyres) with Dad. Absolutely loved it, have been wanting to get out for agres and actually felt quite strong in places. Great to be out in the hills, hardly saw a car until last bit. The Borders can be really beautiful.
Tough start up out the valley and out to Hownam via Towford then Morebattle to the Smokery where me had a wee stop to meet mum. Then to Grannys with a wee off road bit. Then back over the hill from Ancrum via Sharplaw.

Note

I woke up wide awake at 2:30am over thinking and analysing mostly training and running. No matter what I did I couldn't stop and didn't get back to sleep until 5:30am :(. Amongst other things I need to find people to train with again since I'm able to train properly to really push myself while at same time doing sessions suitable for me.....

Running 29:34 [3] 5.23 km (5:39 / km)

Orienteering 7:17 [4] 1.53 km (4:46 / km)

Running warm up/down 34:54 [3] 6.0 km (5:49 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-1000 4

Running race 18:37 [5] 5.0 km (3:43 / km)
shoes: Adidas XCS 4

I entered this as a stepping stone and something to focus on. I was then super nervous ever since entering especially after such a poor run last weekend.

The race was paced for 18mins and to my surprise ended up one of fastest in it. My plan was to sit at the back of the group of pacemaker losing some seconds each lap trying to run a SB. This was going well in a group of 6 until all but one & pacemaker dropped off after 5 laps. It was pretty windy so was forced to either speed up and run with faster guy to get some shelter with risk of dying or run on my own taking all the wind. I hung in as long as I could then was on my own which was pretty tough up that back straight.

So I'm kind of disappointed both that I didn't really have race with anyone as we were all pretty spread out with time as I've actually had some decent sessions but ran quicker in May at Silverknowes. However quite a few people were slower than Silverknowes so the wind definitely played a part. Thankfully safely under 19 and the experience was great and I'd definitely do races like this again.

Need to discuss and plan where I go from here to not get negative because I want to be and know I can be better than this :).

Calton Hill. Just did the short, without SI trying to save the legs a bit. Lots of climb so took it easy. Missed a route and ran past a control which isn't really excusable at this pace.
