NOY 4 - Hamburger Trail - Hard Medium
Physically and navigationally i felt quite strong today. I was able to run pretty much all of it and able to push myself without fatiguing too bad. I was able to get in under the hour mark which is always a good feeling. I was also able to take compass bearings and have them work for me!
#4 - was a bit too SE so lost about 30sec here.
#4 to #5 - i decided to go to the right of the hill and run past 12, 11 and 10 before hitting the track along Italia Rd. From there i went in where there are two tracks coming off Italia Rd, up the right fork to the bend, cut through the vegetation to the next track and at the fork i took a bearing and went staight in and got it.
#6 - ended up drifting too north and hit the track before going in, so another 30sec lost here.
#7 - i spiked this one but other's seemed to have trouble on it. The people who had trouble that i spoke with, seemed to be focussing on something else at the time whereas i was scanning for the control and saw it from about 30-50m away.
#8 - took a bearing and his just north of the rubbish on the track. From there it was simply run in and look along the rocks until i saw it.
#9 - Hit the track too north, realised and ran along the track for a bit. I then went intot he bush wanting to come at it from the side but ended up too north-west and hit the rocks just above the watercourse fork so lost about a minute here.
Running to #10 is where Steven caught me. He yelled out to stop walking and i yelled back "I have little legs and have to stop to climb over stuff, unlike you".
#10 - pretty much went straight which turned out to be a bad move. Steven and i were keeping pretty even until i hit the rocks above him and i was a lot more tentative. He ran away from me here.
Got to the finish and skipped my way down to Steven who was waiting at the start for me, as i had completed the course in under an hour and so was pretty happy with myself (:
