Head wanted to do this but don't think the body was on the same wavelength. Hard to know what to make of the spin, its km in the legs at the end of the day.
Got hit by a few showers so stopped early to put jacket on, off again after Lissyviggeen, and on again after Glenflesk where it stayed on until Kenmare.
Didn't really make best use of the wind on the way out. And then from Loo Bridge to Kenmare I'd a really strong headwind. Body in no mood to suffer so basically just got through it until a break at Kenmare.
The break wasn't part of the plan but despite a lot of eating en route, I needed something. 500ml of lucozade and sugars stabilised but didn't increase. Probably a unit or 2 too much of insulin at lunch, but that being said I didn't take that much at lunch, plus i'd lunch.
Liked the wind for most of the spin up to Molls Gap. And definitely had the benefit of it on the spin home from the top. My legs weren't too bad though, I think taking it easier into the wind earlier probably helped.
Got a bit damp after Molls Gap too but I just put the head down and went for home.
Overall a bit disappointed in how I felt but my training hours including this for the last week would be above average, but longest spin this year by a nice margin, and looking back, I didn't do this route last year. Should be an easy time to improve on next attempt.
