Gym Work 1:30:00 [3] 0.0 mi

Resuming some weight training using my free gym membership at Simon's Rock in Great Barrington. I have two problematic areas that will make the going slow--a left shoulder with a possible rotator cuff issue and my right hamstring with is either torn or strained.

Consequently, I'll be starting with very low weight and going for numerous reps until those two areas either get stronger or stop hurting. We shall see.

Hiking 1:59:48 [3] 6.26 mi (19:08 / mi) +1004ft 16:37 / mi

Parked on Reservoir Road in Lenox and hiked along Yokun Ridge, using the twisty bike trail that leads toward Lenox Mountain.

The trail was lightly covered with snow for most of the route, making the footing slippery and quite wet in spots, which were hard to see due to all the leaves.

I continued north a half mile past Lenox Mountain to a rock outcropping that provides great views to the north and Mt. Greylock, as well as a western view of the town of Richmond.

Never saw another person during the hike.

Walking 1:26:54 [3] 6.16 mi (14:06 / mi) +377ft 13:20 / mi

My legs have been problematic recently--sore hamstring, tender hip, tight quads, perhaps all related to my numerous recent falls. So I thought that a walk would be the better option. Alas, as I was about to head out, it started to rain, so back inside I went and got the rain jacket instead of a nylon jacket.

That was a good move--the rain soon turned to sleet and eventually to snow, then back to rain/sleet, before finally settling on just snow. My gloves were thoroughly soaked at the end of the walk resulting in very cold hands.

The good news is that the roads were sparsely populated, so I could dodge the puddles without worry.

Walking 26:48 [3] 1.55 mi (17:18 / mi) +112ft 16:11 / mi

After-dinner walk out to the cows, which was cut short when it started raining. Fairly warm and pleasant for a walk in the rain.

Trail Running 56:50 [3] 5.02 mi (11:19 / mi) +564ft 10:14 / mi

Got to Kennedy Park a little later than I had planned, so I took a flashlight along as a precaution. Good thing, as I needed it for about 40% of the run. I still managed to trip about four times, mainly due to the leaves hiding a lot of roots and small rocks. I'll need to plan my running times a bit better going forward.

Dirt Road Running 49:23 [3] 5.0 mi (9:53 / mi) +120ft 9:39 / mi

Another run near Woods Pond. Felt much better today than yesterday--the legs actually had some spring to them, although my left knee seems to be hurting a bit. Barely managed to finish before it would have been dark enough to need a light.
