Sunday Mar 31 #

Orienteering 1:18:39 [3] 8.0 mi (9:50 / mi)

JK Beaudesert Long - M65 14th
Mindset was good after yesterday and wondered what I could do with decent vision in a muddy rough forest.
1. 30s - lost by doing 2 sides of thigh deep swamp rather than 1, still nearly lost shoe.
2. 20s - stopped and wasn't sure whether to go up/down. Running tight and tensed- nerves and not warned up.
4. 10s.
6. 15s held up slower runners.
11. 30s couldn't see ride.
13. Slow dropping in again on a different route to y'day.
Picked up speed after 2 with 25 mins gone.
15th overall and no one ranked below me ahead.

Warm Up 5:00 [1]

Not long enough.

Saturday Mar 30 #

Orienteering race 40:56 [4] 4.15 km (9:52 / km)

JK Beaudesert - Middle M65 25th
2. 20s - Checked a much earlier rhody on the slope.
4. 1.45 - Thought the thick forest was large thicket near control.
5. 35s - Thought desc was veg bound, then couldn't see mud covered control.
10. Slow getting down slope.
12. 20s went to unmarked path above actual one and was checking earlier unmarked pits.
New O glasses were useless. Had to lift them up to see terrain & L eye took ages to focus.

Warm Up warm up/down 5:00 [2]

Not long enough.

Wednesday Mar 27 #

Orienteering 39:01 [3] 4.5 km (8:40 / km) +40m 8:18 / km
ahr:146 max:166

Hawley - Short Green 3.6k 40m
Wore new O glasses and arm dec holder and aim was to be disciplined with O techniques.
Not accurate enough with compass, 10 to 20 degs out on a rough bearing is far too much. Need be more exact, look further ahead and not default so often to the best line through terrain. Need predict possible parallel errors before slipping into them.
Afib since waking- likely trigger, too much sugar last night.
