CTAWA Hills Ride

Not a good start to the day with a flat tyre before I even leave the Garage. Head out from Midland into a strong easterly which becomes stronger in the Helena Valley. Into the first climb up to the zig zag and down to the granny gear. (so out of practice in Hill climbing. Short fast downhill before the long slog up Kalumunda Road where as if the road was not steep enough the head wind almost puts us to a dead stop. Fast down to Piesse Brook, some steep streches up to Carmel college before ending up at the Rose cafe with the largest cake slice you have ever seen.

I decide to head off early back to Midland so that I could get home by 12. Five km from Midland I get flat no. 2. Replace it with the new tube but I cannot pump it up because somehow the valve is broken. (flat no.3). I repare the original with a tyre repair kit and just about to set off when this goes flat. In my haste I have probably forgot to clean what originally caused the problem. (flat no.4) Then an incident with a parser by who offered to help then reniged because his golf clubs prevented the byke fitting in the boot.

At this stage I was walking when my origianal ride group caught up and offered a new tube (40m after the initial flat). This new tube immediately went flat (no.5). Finally after checking rims and tyres and a new tube I was away.
