Orienteering race 1:00:00 [4] *** 8.6 km (6:59 / km) +260m 6:04 / km

JHI's individual, was chosen as a reserve due to injuries, making it my first run for england. realisd in the start box the 18's and 16's had the same first 6, so i had jack leitch sat behind me for the first 6 controls, and looking at winsplits he was first at no.6 by 90s in the 16's class! lost about 30s at 1 and 45s at 2 as i was very hesitant, good route to 3 but again very hesitant- 30s, good speed through 4,5,6,7, getting mainly 2nd or 3rd on winsplits, very slow and a very zig zag RC to 8, losing me about 75s looking on a marsh too early, bad RC to 9 and bad speed over the bracken compared to sasha and dan (partly due to earlier start?) losing about 75s again, stopped too early for 10, 30s mistake, clean 11-13, stupid to 14, not realising a collecting feature was a massive path so i stopped far too early- 30s, almost hit 16 before 17- 30s, then slow to the finish, so even though it looks like a bad run from me, it was far better than i usually run for me, however i could have comfortably done 55 even with this current fitness.
good race got me to 3rd, 42s off second which would have given england the win possibly, terrain favoured later starts.
