this is attackpoint name names or at least use cleverly disguised pseudonyms like Shep did with Dawane Bagare.

Or at least let us know which legs we should look at in the splits to work out who did it.

Is there something needs to be done about sprint races when impassable symbols are used for reasons other than safety? An impassable cliff is an obvious feature. This was the 'Cassie symbol'. But a minor feature deemed impassable may not look that in the heat of a sprint. Should we as course setters use tape to make impassability obvious to the oxygen starved brain. I don't know about the Nooriotpa event, but I am thinking of the WOC sprint last year. And my Ironman last year. I'll never again rely on competitors reading the detail of impassability in future sprint course setting.

Leg 20 is one to look at across the creek.
Naunton, Smyth, Parton, Barr and Keely (all dsq's) were too fast here as you can see in the splits.

Another is 22 where some alegedly did not use the bridge to cross the creek, but as it was a bit longer, it may be harder to spot in the splits. I'd question the guy with the fastest split.

I'm told that several also cut through the caravan park after making a mistake on leg 9, but you won't notice this in the splits.

My understanding is that those who didn't use the bridge at 22 had their results stand, as there may have been some ambiguity in the map at that point. I saw one person do it in front of me but don't know if he was one of the ones who came forward or not.

The line width of the uncrossable black boundary was thinner than standard, which didn't help matters.

Come to this year's Ironman. I won't disqualify you for crossing cliffs marked as uncrossable. But i won't supply the splints you'll need afterward either.

I'm also pretty sure they didn't dsq people for cutting across the creek at 22. There was a crossing point marked which was meant to be for the road crossing, but some thought it meant you could also cross the creek.

When is the Ironman anyway pensioner?

Good question. 18th August. Just checked. I'll have to pull my finger out and make some serious progress on this map. And do the publicity early enough for pre-entry. Loop courses like Orient-Show format. Trouble is, whenever I go out there to map, it takes half an hour to get over the intimidation factor. Too complex. And after another two hours I am mentally buggered anyway.

You don't need a map for the ironman - you just follow the group in front of you!

No Bruce, not if you run an Orient-show style course with 12 variants..

That, and SI, are the intention. We'll see about the logistics.

I saw one competitor overwhelmed by the whole thing running into 22, he crossed the bridge legitimately, ran down the bank to the checkpoint, then ran back up the bank the way he had come down, and crossed the out of bounds road toward 23.

I don't think it payed off.

You can't underestimate the 'brain in a bucket' effect of sprint races.
