At least, as fantastic as it can be to hear that you need surgery. But if you can get it soon, that is excellent. 'Bent's recovery was longer than everyone else we talked to, probably because he pushed it too soon because he kept hearing that everyone else was back to normal in a week or two. Hmm, it's possible that their normal is different from 'Bent's normal. I hope yours gets better quick!

Hey, I was a good boy and followed doctor's orders. It just took longer, period. I heard some folks talk about being good to go in 6 weeks or so- but suspect that was a bit of a crock.

Ahem, when the doctor said you could try a "short run", you went 5K since that was a short run for you - but not a short run by a lot of people's standards!

Well I won't be planning any marathons anytime soon. I'm more worried about dressing Tman.

Why thanks Carbon - but you need to put all your energy into YOUR recovery! My knee is a very minor blip in the great scheme. We've all got our fingers and toes and eyes crossed for your recovery.

It's funny how we all look at our illnesses and injuries as just blips. I do too :). But it's not "just" a knee. It's "your" kneee and a very important body part for active people like us.

Good news indeed to get in so early. How young was this guy? Did you ask if he had ever done this before...just kidding. Maybe he is Doogie Howser quality!

He looks about your age I'd guess, and fit and trim. I'd say he's a runner or endurance-type of some sort. He has a Masters in physiology and a sports medicine specialty. Very much a proponent of keeping/getting strong to prepare for and recover from surgery, and encourages aerobic activities. I like him so far. It was a bit weird when he told me I needed to bulk up my vastus medialis though. First time anyone's ever said that! The little sheet of paper with quad exercises sure didn't seem to have much that's going to do that for me. Guess I'm already showing signs of atrophy?

Ha! I can't imagine anyone saying you need to bulk up your leg muscles. He can't have looked!
