hiking (hike/jog/walk) 10:04:00 [3] 47.5 mi (12:43 / mi) +2700m 10:48 / mi
slept:5.0

Hike/jog in lakes, didn't quite get the ascent that I thought I had (GPS battery went after 6hrs). Legs felt ok for about 4 hours, then hit a tired period for about 2 hrs, legs like lead and struggling to put any power in climbs. Then slowed things down and carried on at a slower pace and perked up again, No niggles, fueling no issue. legs a little tired 31st July, however, no DOMS.

Easy/hill reps (Westport lake run) 1:18:00 [2] 6.7 mi (11:38 / mi) +70m 11:17 / mi
slept:7.3 shoes: Nike Structure 17

Easy run to westport lake, then hill reps x6. followed by easy run, total run time was an hour and the reps, 18 mins. First couple of reps easier, then increased effort for the last 4. Legs felt good, all niggles from Scafell race appear to have gone.

Trail Run Easy (Road/path/trail) 1:23:13 [1] 8.6 mi (9:41 / mi) +220m 8:58 / mi
slept:7.3 shoes: Trail Ultra Max

Easy run on the same route as previous two days. (Apedale). Same perceived easy effort, however the numbers show that I was travelling slightly faster at the same perceived effort. Legs less tired, breathing through nose only in order to keep the effort level low and easy. Ended session with x8 strideouts.

Trail Run Easy (Road/trail) 1:26:25 [1] 8.6 mi (10:03 / mi) +220m 9:19 / mi
slept:8.0 shoes: Dynamic Ultra

Did the same run as yesterday with the aim of very easy pace in order to give legs recovery time. Nose breathing the whole time as wanted to keep the run easy and slow. Felt more than comfortable, legs less tired than yesterday. Very pleased with the run. Felt like a productive recovery run.

Note

Wore Radilight Dynamic ultra shoe, feet very well supported. Underfoot, felt a little flimsy at the forefoot end. Heels very well cushioned and the grip on the trail was adequate. 100% better than any inov8 i've ever worn as this shoe felt like it was offering some protection and giving support. Not sure how it'll fair over ultra distance.

Trail Run Easy (Easy run) 1:26:16 [3] 8.6 mi (10:02 / mi) +220m 9:18 / mi
slept:7.0

Easy road/trail run, no DOMS although tired legs. Took it really easy and ran to feel, everything felt comfortable, no pushing at any point. Finished with light stretches and strides x8.

Note

New shoes x2 from Raidlight. Both trail running shoes, testing them out, however to see how they perform as it's likely i'll use one of these for CCC. Binning all Inov8 other than mudclaws (the only shoe that is worth holding on too). Awaiting Tempo's
