2019 LoCO FIT Adventure Run (actually, more of a hike for most of us...).
We started at the Hessie trailhead and went counterclockwise -- Devil's Thumb trail up to Devil's Thumb Lake, up a steep section to the continental divide where we met the High Lonesome trail, and then back down via the King Lake trail.
It started out cloudy / foggy, but as the day went on, the weather could not have been more perfect -- sunny, blue sky, mild temps, and only a bit of wind at the top. I haven't been up in the Indian Peaks Wilderness in ~15 years, and it was really beautiful; the aspens were starting to turn.
This was overall a great day, other than some mild aggravation on my part -- yes, I can read a map and find obvious, regularly-traveled trails on my own, and I don't need people constantly waiting for me (acting annoyed that they "had" to wait) and constantly asking if I'm OK, etc. I'm 100% OK, just slow. :-)
It's fun to do group excursions like this (there were 22 of us, but some did a shorter out-and-back), but I think I would generally prefer to go alone, at my own pace, without stressing about the others who are waiting / worrying because of me. Expending mental energy on that crap and all the interpersonal dynamics is an unwelcome interruption to my otherwise nice day.
7:47 total time, 6:06 moving time.
