Walking 35:00 [3]

Leddy Park, Burlington on a pleasant-enough Saturday afternoon - lots of people & dogs, actually too many dogs. Tiring drive up - have lost the "ability" to be in a car fro 150+ miles of driving. Nice to be on the road though.

Walking 30:00 [3] 0.7 mi (42:50 / mi)

To slough & back with W around 6p. The slough seems to have more water than from the stream's passing thru it. Maybe beavers are repairing or rebuilding the old dam.

Worked on boat, drove back thru Dover - all very bright/colorful May. Wished I'd stopped in Dover for a walk in the center of town. Next time I'll plan ahead. Drove by Bear Brook SP on the way home, 28 S from Epsom Circle. I should have had map & compass for an O walk, another plan ahead. Time for Bear Hill Pond area which has to be far from the madding crowd of Podunk parking. Though a day driving back & forth plus 5-6 hrs work is tiring, lessening enthusiasm.

Walking 35:00 [1]

From end of Hope La. Didn't have a lot of time so settled on nearby Hope.
Had walking a trail or two from the past, trying to remember back then, say pre-2010. Peaslee subdiv, not there then, was front and center. Lyford Tr. took me to it where I was somewhat disoriented. I was in a cul-de-sac with houses mostly over 4000'sq. where once was woods and appealing control locations (maybe now in the family room...). A fine day in May but what I saw there saddened me. W was her usual get-dirty, have-fun self.

Walking 15:00 [2] 0.5 mi (29:59 / mi)

Walking laps between and after the two one mile efforts.
10 AM

Track 14:24 [3] 1.0 mi (14:24 / mi) +1m 14:22 / mi

At BHS, light drizzle (steady rain last night). Green infield, robins, spring-at-the-track memories. First ran curves, second ran straights. Quite OOB on the walks.

Track 14:14 [3] 1.0 mi (14:14 / mi)

Better as expected. Interested to go from feeling chilly to 'running' in a tee shirt. 8' per minute while running 100 yds was hard work.
1 PM

Walking 1:10:00 [2] 1.8 mi (38:53 / mi) +203m 28:48 / mi

At Walker - went to Eagle Tr. on BLT, then Esker to where it crosses the stream, hopped downstream to Webelos and along that to BLT and back to car. Drizzle, tired. W rolled onto a very dead skunk, not as bad as a spray but necessitating a cold shower for her, time-intensive for me then for Beth to do a better job.

Forgot to turn watch off, so distorted by extra miles driving. With Strava, deleting errors was possible. I sure need a new phone with more storage to be able to use that app. again.

Everett Dam/dike with Beth & W. Gray, calm. Very few people there in late pm. Had been maybe a month since our last visit. There was a flying group on the field. The one model plane we saw was doing impressive acrobatics. Numerous times I thought it was going to nose dive into the ground.

Walking 1:00:00 [1]

Went back to Old Johnson TF, this time with a can of yellow spray paint for refreshing old blazes, some hard to find. Learned that spray paint, while easy to use, doesn't go very far on rough bark trunks. Walked maybe 0.4 mi toward IS 93 and same back and that emptied the can. And still, in returning, there weren't enough blazes. Had to search too much in places for what I'd just refreshed. Was hesitant to "make my own mark" but concluded doing so is important if it helps walking the boundary.
