to/from training and to/from Mo's for the car.

saw my first snake. Not out in the bush as I fairly reasonably expected our first meeting to be, but rather on a damp, mild morning on Antill st. A pretty lazy looking skinny brown snake curled up not quite in the gutter. (so just where I was biking).
Not sure which of us was more asleep, luckily the snake I think as I managed to swerve and avoid it. In fact it might have been dead. It didn't seem bothered at all. I'm not going back to find out though.

Was a bit cautious o-ing after this, but got over it by the 3rd control

middle dist set on majura by GrantM (thanks!). Arrived 3mins late as usual and absolutely no-one to be seen from the cars, and no maps either. So went for a jog to hide my bag and happened across the support crew/creche :)

Training wise, just couldn't get the scale right, was hitting features way before i expected to! Very rusty but good fun.

Sprint course back down majura west. Discovered that the man made objects I didn't find in the middle were pretty decrepit horse jumps which just looked like fallen logs!
Happy with my fast bearings this time round. Completely went ovre on my right ankle towards the end but no lasting damage it seems

up to the lab from home. Then a record breaker back down to uni to make it in time for the Earth Physics seminar at 10.30 (which i then struggled not to fall asleep in)

2min ints with 1 min rest up on the side of Ainslie. Meant to be with Bun but we lost each other after 1.5 intervals. Turns out she did 7 ints in the end while I bailed after 6 cos my L) Knee wasn't 100%.
Tried to do it on single tracks but half the time they vanished into nothing so it was 50:50 single track and terrain intervals, which suits me fine :)

obviously hadn't recovered well enough from this morning - almosts cramped up when we had to do a sprint lap of the pitch!

Good training though, and I think (hope) I'm getting better with names. If I'm getting them wrong noone's telling me anyway!

Stupid left knee though. It's been fine running, but as soon as i kick a ball it plays up. So I'm essentially single footed at the moment :(

finally home at 10pm. So hungry i felt sick. Soccer training goes to regular times from next week so hopefully I can sort out my eating/training schedule. This week's been a bit crap with lack of sleep and not enough food. Legs are really feeling it.

up and down from the lab. Will prob spend most of next week up there now I've finally got test samples good to go to calibrate the ovens. Had some good fun with high temp cement today.

and turns out it's kinda painful to bike with a sliced hand.

Decided getting out to Stromlo was too hard, and I haven't been on a straight hill run for a while. So made my way through the streets to Ainslie, zig zagged my way up to the top, then did a Magnus no-no and took the same track half way down again. It's a way nicer track than the others though! Passed some young fit looking guy on the way up, and then again on the way down - he seemed a bit surprised haha

Then started up Hacket Hill, but decided I was too tired 1/3 of the way up and went to contour around on what looked like a single track. Except it wasn't. So I had a nice 10minute off track run through the forest! Eventually popped out on the saddle track, and smelt my way back home through the streets.

felt good :)

such. a. long. day.
Out at 6am to drive my friend Mo to an eye appt in Sydney after she ripped off her cornea at the weekend. Got back at 5.30. I was feeling physically sick and both of us were all but hysterical with tiredness. Guess driving and then guiding a 3/4 blind person through sydney is tiring...
For some reason I still wanted to go to football training though.
Was ok once I got going but near collapse every time i stopped. Also managed to slice my hand open on the top of the fence when I went to retrieve the ball :s

Was just about ready to collapse into a fetal position by the time I got home, but managed to get a bit of food on board before doing so.

whoot, pumped up my swiss ball last night (once I'd found the clever place I'd stashed the plug for it :)

So more ab work for me from now on. And stability.

aqua jogging 45:00 [3]

my lunch time swimming date with Nur. Thankfully it's no longer school holidays so there's plenty of space at civic. Infact today the outdoor diving pool was empty so had it all to myself for the first half hour :)

Got into a nice rhythm doing 1 length each of high cadence, straight legs, no arms and normal.

Was good, did some nice visualising of sprinting down the finish chute at WOC for the high cadence one, though I went a bit offline when I closed my eyes!

Street O in Watson. Really enjoyed it, despite my control card all but disintegrating in the rain. Thought I'd be super tired after the weekend, but actually felt pretty amazing!
Bit of a bung route choice at the start but good from there on. Came in only ~3mins behind Craney which isn't half bad for 8-9km i reckon! Shame the results don't list times...I'm a bit bummed about that.

Forgot my watch again so not sure of timing. 6x ~1km courses out in the pines, with very easy rests between. First two my brain was engaged but my legs weren't. Then the heat(?) got to me and my brain left the building. Got it back for the last two. Pretty ave session by me all up, though well set.

Didn't quite beat the evening thunder storm back to the car
