RV Farms from the S end. Once I felt warmed up decided to throw in some intervals on the uphills - 100 paces each. Felt comfortably hard - it's been a while since I've done any legitimate speed work, or had a training plan, or any of those other things serious runners do...
Just after dusk (starting next week this will be well after dark with the time change), but was pleasant out.
Headlamp died partway through my third push, didn't have a backup battery, as this was my new battery pack and I thought it had a full charge (nope). Just enough overcast and light reflection from the surrounding civilization to make out where the trails went - walking fast with some slow running. Knees high and toes up so I wouldn't trip over anything.
Had my phone with me with its light, but kept that in reserve in case I wandered off the trail.
Fun adventure.

Setting out model controls before the monsoon arrives.
Got dark awful early - dark clouds starting to swirl around. At the 2nd flag I put out, saw the streamer that I'd placed a couple weeks ago. Didn't remember seeing one at the 1st placement, hmm. Did some circling in the fading light at the 3rd control, a depression in a vague flat area is always fun, especially without a compass. Less than 100 m from distinct points along a trail, but thick enough woods that drifting was an issue.
Went back to the 1st control on the way out, yup, had it by the wrong knoll. Found the streamer where it was supposed to be and got the flag placed. Run back in the dark.

Wanderings in relation to the Older Dash - Some downhill trails now mowed, other are more runnable as the vegetation is heading into fall mode.

Running around Locke's Hill / Carye Woods from the Beans & Greens side
Some absolutely wonderful forest - rolling, wide open and then some logged areas and thick green...
Remembered to bring a headlamp this time - made getting back out of the woods much nicer than thrashing around in the dark woods.
