Note
(rest day)

Out in the sun all day - Luke's 9am baseball game (he struck out 7 in 3 2/3 innings, before being yanked to stay under 75 pitches), then off to the County meet at Victor, just in time for the 1500m. Not a bad day early, but the 4x800 relays were awful. Some combination of most of the relay members being at Prom last night, plus the heat and earlier events.

These kids need to toughen up. After my prom, I arrived home around 2am, just in time to hop in the car and ride 3+ hours to Cleveland for my marathon debut at 7am.

Running 23:51 [3] 3.08 mi (7:44 / mi) +11m 7:39 / mi

Had time for a short run after work, before giving Meg a ride to Daniel's baseball game. So, i put forth a bit of effort (but not too hard) to make up for lacking reasonable duration.

Note

No official training to log today, but I did quite a bit of running at the JV County meet, as we had lots of heats of the 1600 and 800. Plus I was on my feet almost the whole time, so that counts for something.

I was planning on jogging during the 20 heats of the 100 and 19 heats of the 200, but got talking to the RH coach during the former and helped Z find some food during the latter.

I don't have the times with me now, but we had PRs by almost everyone. It was great having the multiple heats (5?) of the 1600, with one of our kids in contention is almost every heat. Almost all of the team's points were scored in distance events (400m+).

Running intervals 22:54 intensity: (14:00 @2) + (8:54 @5) 3.25 mi (7:03 / mi)

So, I finally had the chance to jump on the track during the kids' workout today. Normally, with close to 40 distance runners to coach, and 4 track teams (Schroeder and Thomas, boys and girls) sharing the track, there's no way to do anything. But with JV Counties tomorrow, and the vast majority of the distance squad competing there, I sent them for an easy run, then tagged along with some of the Varsity runners - but I cheated.

They were doing cruise intervals - 4 x 800m with about 30 seconds rest, followed by 4 x 200m at mile race pace (not 800 race pace, supposedly) for some sharpening ahead of Saturday's County Meet. I just jumped in 400m at a time during the 800s, then just did 2 x 200m chasing Val and Alaina, before remembering that discretion is the better part of valor. And the limits imposed on range of motion in hips, butt and groin were a warning sign.

95 (with 2nd girls group)
91 (Val and Alaina)
89 (same)
88 (with the guys)
93 (girls 2)

40, 38 on the 200s.

1 mi w/up 3/4 w/dn before heading to my 10th and final PMP prep class.

Note

So, three O Meets within 90 minutes on Sunday. I guess it doesn't matter to me that none of them are on Saturday, since I have the track County meet all day, but it's still too bad about the planning.

When the world serves up lemons, do you make lemonade? Luke and I may try to pull of the BFLO-ROC doubleheader on Sunday, since BFLO starts at 11 and the last ROC start is at 2...

Running 25:36 [2] 3.0 mi (8:32 / mi)

Easy run from Scribner Elementary during Luke's baseball practice. I hope the gym teachers there have made a school O map. There is a beautiful, albeit small, patch of white woods by the school, complete with an old stone wall along the edge, and the adjoining land is a partially mowed meadow (leading to some public access land) and a small pond(disgusting water, but pleasant area), in addition to the large school field as it adjoins Bay Trail Middle School.

Running 49:03 intensity: (2 @1) + (2:28 @2) + (33:27 @3) + (13:06 @4) 5.13 mi (9:34 / mi) +182m 8:37 / mi
ahr:142 max:160

Mostly easy run over to the Y, thru the Lincoln Park trails to the new playground area and home. Kept it under 8:30 for the first 2.5 miles, then wanted to make sure I was under that for the last mile, but realized that under 8:00 would be easy to achieve, so made it closer to 7:30 instead. Got to add the small efforts when I have the ability to do so.
