Hi David, I don't know what version you are working with now but download the trial version of V12 for the 3 weeks and see if has enough new features to make it worthwhile.

I'm working with 11 now. Have you tried 12? Is it much of an improvement from 11?

Hi, I held a workshop a few weeks ago and asked all the participants to download the V12 trial so we all worked on the same version. We covered all the basic functions and they were very similar to V11. So I think the tipping point is if the new features are useful to you.
A couple of mappers around here are successfully using tablets with realtime GPS in V11. Maybe use your budget to move in that direction? Or have you already done that? Cheers.

I have considered trying a tablet and gps. Perhaps on my next project. Can't afford to buy the tablet and upgrade to 12 in the same year. Have you tried experimenting with OOM at all?

No I haven't played with OOM. I am always cautious with freeware. The technical support people at OCAD have been very responsive. But maybe there are some useful OOM functions not in OCAD to handle the myriad of file formats floating around. For example, .shp files which can only be imported with OCAD professional.
