Toting an aerial photo, I completed a long pondered circumnavigation of George Watch Lake. I was running behind schedule, so I truncated three peninsulas with potentially good forested terrain from the route in order to make it home on time. Crossed many icy wet marshes and savored some nice open woods. This ain't no Lake Calhoun. A little adventure does the soul good.

One deer tick hitched a ride to demonstrate that tick season has officially begun.

Note

After two hard days of running off-road, my calves are not sore at all as has been the case with road running lately. Perhaps the problem will go by the wayside entirely as I leave pavement completely behind for the recently arrived snowless season. That would be a good thing.

At Como working on systematic orienteering at well shy of race pace. Had good flow from control to control, good map folding and adequate thumbing, but the stride felt heavy and slow. To much Peking Chicken for lunch?
