Orienteering race (Belvoir National) 1:44:48 [5] 15.3 km (6:51 / km) +395m 6:04 / km

Pretty good run. Clean round to the butterfly loop, but then a ran into a problem mainly due to the fact that most of the control circles weren't properly centred on the feature. I tried to cut up the bank to 12 but kept slipping back down then when I got to the control it as at the bottom of the bank. Took the road route to 28 but this wasn't very fun as it was allowed. Looks like I took a bit of a dodgy route to 33 then overshot the last control! Probably lost me about a minute total on these two but frustratingly this let Schminty pass me on the last two controls (however he must have nailed these and may have snuck past me anyway).

A resonably good result, pleased to be only 8 mins down on Nails over 15km but not happy that 4 people got in between. Being injured over christmas and ny just means I haven't really done the speed work and I'm lacking a bit of stamina. It's a shame there isn't a little more time before the JK.

Well planned courses though and quite a nice area, very enjoyable.

Saturday Mar 20

Note

Spent most of the day under my car and then driving to Nottingham. Anyone any good at welding??

Friday Mar 19

9 AM

Cycle 25:00 [3] 6.0 mi (4:10 / mi)

Feeling almost hungover despite not drinking any alcohol...not good. I'm going to be so pissed off if this affects Sunday.

6 PM

Cycle 25:00 [3] 6.0 mi (4:10 / mi)

Mild cold, hoping it won't get worse.

Thursday Mar 18

10 AM

Cycle 25:00 [3] 6.0 mi (4:10 / mi)

Didn't feel good this morning, really couldn't get out of bed, I'll be really dissapointed if this develops into a cold ahead of Sunday. It's a bit worrying when your line manager has to remind you that you have a meeting at 10am tomorrow morning...

5 PM

Cycle 35:00 [3] 6.0 mi (5:50 / mi)

Erm bit of a slow one.

7 PM

Run (Intervals) 30:00 [5]

Intervals on the downs with Bown and Keith.
10 * 3 mins off 1 min.
Felt ok with this once I got going, felt pretty comfotable running with Bown, apart from the first one where Bown was warming up we were never more than a metre or two apart in either direction.

Run 15:00 [2]

W/U and W/D

8 PM

Circuits 45:00

BOK circuits with a few drills and relay stuff.

Wednesday Mar 17

10 AM

Cycle 25:00 [3] 6.0 mi (4:10 / mi)

Couldn't get out of bed this morning but then felt ok on the bike. Loving that it's warm again!

6 PM

Cycle 25:00 [3] 6.0 mi (4:10 / mi)

No running today despite feeling fairly strong on the bike. Want to be better prepared for the classic this weekend than last time I did one.

Tuesday Mar 16

Run 20:07 [3] 2.7 mi (7:27 / mi)

Run to "meet Tim" for GWR intervals.

Run (Warm up) 10:00 [2] 1.2 mi (8:20 / mi)

So I failed to pick up Tim's message that he wasn't going to make it. Turned up and the guy I presume is known as "Military Mike" asked who I was and my standard...I said I was probably similar to Tim. He said right I'll put you in the elite group then, having not done intervals for a while I regreted saying this. The elite group was called group B for some reason...there were 3 groups.

Run (Drills) 5:00 [3]

Run 13:22 [5] 4 km (3:21 / km)

No idea why Keith said this was no good, I thought it was really good and well structured, was running with a good group of guys. There were 4 of us in the "elite" group.

5 * 800m on road with 2 small inclines (apparently off 2 mins rest but noone believed this!)

2.41

Was in 2nd for the first rep then 3rd after that but all 4 of us were fairly close with the quickest guy pulling out the biggest gap. Really good although didn't feel like I was breathing that well, haven't done intervals for a while though.

Military Mike was trying to get me to join saying there was some team competitions where they needed the top 6 guys...bit suprised if there aren't 6 guys better than me.

Run (Warm down) 10:00 [2] 1.2 mi (8:20 / mi)

Run 30:03 [2] 3.2 mi (9:23 / mi)

Errored here, ran back along the portway which is horrible, seemed to take forever and I was totally ruined, then I missed the cut up to the top of bridge valley road and had to run up the actual road...completely died on this hill and just about managed to shuffle home and stuff myself with food before I collapsed...I've now collapsed anyway.
