Note
(sick) (rest day)

Completely dependent now on Otrivine & antihistamies.

Can't get thru night without one antihistamine, and need Otrivine first thing & last thing & also often in the day too. Nose clouds over totally when tired, or in the evenings. THought is was an allergy, but is clearly not. Go nowhere without Otrivine in my pocket now.

Felt rotten all day, luckily played guitar in Bath which took my mind off it :)

What is it they say? "If symptoms persist, consult your doctor"?

3 months now. #illhealth

Climbing (Bouldering) 1:00:00 [3]
(sick)

Bloc bouldering, OK considering. RH shoulder not great, but has been worse. Good sesh. not great, but OK.

Seriously need to take a reality check on myself - 10km training runs in the week are NOT POSSIBLE RIGHT NOW. Difficulty all night with sinuses, nose, lungs; also energy , mood, and most importantly FEELING CRAP ALL DAY has been a feature of 60% of my week thus far.

I guess this is "post viral fatigue" - i can assure you, it's a fraction (5%, I'd estimate?) as bad as proper post viral ME/cfs, but even so, it needs respect.

Priority no 1: FEEL WELL.
no 2 : Are you SURE you feel well, Phil?
no 3: go orienteering, climbing etc, which are fun & sociable.

Battered from run yesterday.

Defo need to slow this down.

Feeling crap all day, 3rd day this week feeling awful, & sinuses & sneezing in evening, beer made things worse :-(

Running 55:00 [3] 10.69 km (5:09 / km) +130m 4:51 / km
shoes: Brooks Ravenna 10

Steady morning misty run, very muddy in parts (soft ground for battered shin), felt pretty rough for most of it.

REPEAT: FELT PRETTY ROUGH FOR MOST OF IT - so why not stop & go home????????

Some ground to gain. What will be critical will be how I recover from this. I'm better from the illnesses but I think I'm still a bit run down. Need to be more patient. Rehab needed too - lower back poor.

LH Shin still bruised / swollen/ sore - another 2 days off running I reckon. Yeah.

Leg still sore/bruised, and tired (staying at Liz's again - cat allergies), = rest day no 2.

Damn tired / grim! Hmmm.

Note
(rest day)

Note: Diet.

I am finding it increasingly difficult to eat.

I prepare a meal & leave 2/3 of it. (It used to be half the spuds, but now.....)

I'm so full after my morning cereal , I don't eat again til 1pm. I'm very full , very quickly.

I leave the potatoes all the time, to the point where I'm thinking of reducing carbs / potatoes to miniscule levels. Chips seem pointless.

not sure if this is age, diabetes, stomach issues post-2017 operation, recent strange blood test results ......

but if anyone says to my gaunt face, "you just need a decent meal!!!", i would say, I try - I just can't do it, & don't want it.

I also like to leave space for a beer! which is..... sugar & carbs. So.

May try being more keto.

Orienteering race 1:04:23 [5] 9.63 km (6:41 / km) +304m 5:46 / km
shoes: VJ Integrators

NGOC-50 Long day, Brown, 8km/230 m - no wayyyyy!!!!!!

Good run tho felt like a Long-O/Fell race after yesterday, and two legs at least had massively long sections of dead running - esp. the huge leg E-W where oldDaniel & I toiled up togather, must have taken 10 mins that hill alone!!!! 230m climb my arse.

Nigel Bunn (on Black!) popped out on my way to no 6 & I could not live with him, we had next 2 controls the same, & only clawed him back when he banana-ed slightly 6-7. Lovely there, why not more controls there? :-(

(Nigel spent 10 mins looking for his compass at no 2, so his result looks awful. luckily he found it!)

A stream near the last control ate my lower left leg, I was lucky to get away with a cut & bruises, & not a sprained ankle or - WORSE - a knackered knee ..... First aid before Download.

Lovely day. Happy 50th NGOC - was great! (in the end). Stunning runs on Black by Matt Whipple & Oliver Tonge. We kind of expect it from Ben & Megan ......

Ben Maliphant ran 32:58 for 10km on the road today, so missed this.

4th, 45 secs behind Clive, but fine - he made errors ; I'll take it. Felt far better than last Sunday at West woods. that's more important.....
