Running warm up/down 15:00 [2]

Warm up for the relay race. After a day spent sleeping, eating and lying around, my legs feel better now. Let's see how it goes...

Orienteering race 1:09:30 [3]

Spring Cup Relay, was running the 1st leg.

I did feel okay in the start, but already then all the others were running much faster than me. I could stay in the large running group only because my orienteering was relatively clean. However, as the race continued, I more and more had troubles keeping the pace, and as a result of that I once followed the wrong group which resulted in a bad route and more seconds lost. However, it just got worse and worse, and after a stupid 2min mistake, I was running all alone, well behind the leading group. I wasn't able to keep the pace of anyone and just had to manage to finish the race. The legs felt okay, but my body was totally refusing physical activity. In the finish, I was 19min behind the lead (!) with at most 3min of mistakes. Worse it simply can't get.

What to do now? After the race, I didn't feel well at all, but I don't feel sick neither. For sure I have to visit a doctor to check everything (blood and so).
Is it due to too much training lately? Probably. However, I felt okay back on thursday, and such a rapid shape breakdown is hard to explain by overtraining theory.
No matter what, I will rest now and train max 30min a day until I have the results from the doctor. That f***ing sh** really destroyed my self confidence and I feel really lost right now. I just hope it is nothing serious and I come back on track soon.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [2]

Warm up for the race

Orienteering 1:15:26 [3]

Spring Cup, classic. 12.4km.

I really wanted to focus on the map today. In addition to that, my legs felt totally heavy during warm up.

The orienteering went okay today and I didn`t make many mistakes. Only some small route choice mistakes (was too much opting for running around on paths) and small stuff (5-10 sec each).
However, my legs were totally out of power. Nothing, really nothing was left over. Although I was pushing and fighting hard, I was more than 16min down on the winning time, and this by a winning time of below one hour. I simply can`t explain this.

Technically I have to be satisfied. There weren`t any big mistakes, and it was really difficult for me to stay focused while my legs simply refused to run.

Of course, there might be various reasons for my extremely bad physical shape today. I`ve probably been training too much lately, although I was feeling really recovered on thursday. Also, I haven`t been doing a decent running training in the past month, I was either injured or at orienteering camps.
The whole situation is really pissing me, and I don`t see a perspective right now. Either I fail technically, or I fail physically. I really fear the relay tomorrow, where I`m supposed to run the first leg. I don`t see how I should manage that...

Now, I really have to change something, and this will mean to seriously changing my training. I`m glad there is easter soon, and I will put in two easy weeks with little, but effective training. Hope this helps, since it isn`t long until Norwegian Spring and Tiomila .

Orienteering 1:07:00 [3]

Another orienteering training. To my surprise, I felt totallye heavy and I was just jogging easily. The surpise is because yesterday, I felt that good and I wasn`t pushing at all. Wondering how I feel tonight...

Running warm up/down 20:00 [2]

Warm up / cool down for the Night Sprint.

Orienteering race (night) 41:59 [4]

Night Sprint, first competition of Spring Cup.

As usual, I had really bad luck with the start time drawing: Today, Í`m starting 5th to the last at 10:18PM, and tomorrow I´m starting 8th to the first at 10:12AM. Far from optimal conditions. Decided to still run the Night Sprint.

To the first control, I was missing about 1min due to shaky orienteering. (as usual) On the way to the 2nd control, I had to fix my wath, which cost about 20sec. Orienteering was shaky too. 3rd control was okay. Afterwards, I started to get some strange pain in my right a** muscles that continued into my back, which meant that I couldn`t run at full speed. My legs didn`t feel well anyway (what a difference to thursday), so I decided to lower the pace and to save some energy for tomorrow.
The pain came probably from today`s morning training, where my foot got stuck in a root and my head suddenly was approaching a large tree. Only some muscle magic made me regaining the balance and to avoid another crash... However, the pain got away about 10min before the finish.

I`m quite worried about my orienteering shape. Every time I wan`t to run well, I fail to focus on the map, and subsequently the orienteering gets shaky. I really *HAVE* to get rid of that!

Orienteering (night) 1:00:00 [3]

Night-o training near Farum, DK. Felt really good and had good speed. Was running 4 controls at near-competition speed, and was well below 6min/km there. Let`s see how the weekend goes...

Running warm up/down 41:26 [2]

Warm up / cool down for the intervals

Running intervals 30:00 [4]

Hyttaintervaller up to Studenterhytta.

First interval since about one month. Wanted to get a good feedback before flying to Danmark on thursday.

However, didn't feel well already during warm up. Planned was 7-8x6min. The first two went really bad and I had to fight keeping with the group. The 3rd / 4th went a bit better and I managed to stay in the leading group. However, I was totally exhausted afterwards and decided to drop the rest.

Did 2x 1min downhill running just to get a bit speedy running for my legs, but they were totally tired.

I didn't expect to be that exhausted, even though I trained a lot recently. Both sunday and monday were relatively easy days and I felt quite good today in the morning. Just glad I didn't go skiing today as was initially planned.

Now I have to put in two REALLY easy days and see how it goes at Spring Cup... I still feel the knee a bit, but it isn't distorting that much anymore.

Running 59:55 [2]

Running to Dragvoll via Bekken / Estenstad, and back from Dragvoll afterwards.

Cycling (Indoor) 16:00 [3]

High cadence training to get my knee working smoothly.

Although my knee is quite well again, I still am a bit careful and try to do more cycling / skiing as usual.
