Across the edge of Pico summit following the NF boundary line. Some snow, but mostly melted off. Got into very thick spruce growth across the ridge, then boundary slabbed across a steep drop off. Decided to skip past 2 monuments because the footing was wet and slippery with moss. GPS showed I was within 30' of one, but it was above me on a cliff. Come back for these in the summer.
Got past that section and the west side opened up into a beautiful birch forest. Fast travel down the line until I timed out on my allowance for a daylight descent. Had been slowed by some buried monuments, had to find them by triangulating from nearby witness trees and doing a little digging. Bailed to the AT which here was only 200' away at this spot.
Timing was perfect as the cell phone with Avenza gps died as I hit the trail.
