Lisa and I rented some ancient bikes from Pedallers. They are in good working order but kind of cobbled together. I have a Strowe steal frame with 1990ish Dura-ace components. It has downtube friction shifters, 7 sprockets on the cassette, with a max of 21 teeth. The tires were a little soft but I was afraid to mess with them because I wasn't sure the frame pump would be sufficient to get them set. All sufficient but it is just a touch small. All and all it was kind of an awkward ride. No matter.
Headed east on Lake Road. Saw a little fox at the Ginne nuclear power plant, stopped for a bit in Pultneyville, continued on to Sodus. Looked around a bit, filled my bottles, headed home. Nice temperature but humid so I sweated bunch. Lots of rolling hills kept me working. Saw a few cyclists on the way out but a lot on the way back. That's a big change from 30+ years ago when I rode these roads -- I was the only one out there back then.
