Took a pretty bad crash on the bike a week ago and came up pretty rough from it.
So decided to take an early start to my rest week.. which ended up being more restful than planned with a lot of work from uni.

Took a crash early in the stage.. not fun.
Was going pretty fast down a slight hill maybe 50-60km/h. Really lucky to be in one piece.

Had an ok run. Really meant to tape my laces but forgot, and of course had to retie during the course.
Lost a minute or so otherwise in the circle in a few places.
Came away with 40.42min in 2nd 2 mins down on Bryan.
Things I need to work on for Czech;
-constant nav through course
-checking closer in circle (incl. descriptions)
-tying shoe laces

8x 1k reps. Thought it would be a lot harder than it was.
Idea was to not push 100% at the start, but was even a bit easier than expected in the first 4 or so. Pretty long recoveries of 3min as well.
Max kicked it up a notch in rep 5 so we knew he meant business.

Did 8x half laps of princess park @ about 3.20
Started off about midfield of the fast guys but it progressively stronger as we went on.
Ended up chasing down the William Lind doppelganger on the last 2 reps.

Good tough session. Feeling pretty smashed now. Not sure what to do tomorrow since I pretty much did tomorrows session today.
That's the problem with the uni ints.. You don't really know what the session is until you turn up.

Gisborne Mothers Day 8k fun run.
Pretty fast start with max powering out front and taking a nice 30m lead early on. We had a bit of trouble trying to find where the course went but only had to really stop once or twice.
Caught back up to max at about the 2k mark and took the lead with yellow shirt and todd somewhere behind.
Made myself a nice little lead up the hill and pushed the pace around the back of the course to come away with the win.
Not convinced that it was the full 8k.. But my garmin isnt very reliable.
Pulled out the win with a time of 26mins

Orienteering race 1:05:22 [5] 13.0 km (5:02 / km)

Really fun race out at boboyan. Had a bit of an advantage starting later and not in about 1 degree temp.
Identified 2 as a hard control early on but still managed to move too quickly into it and lose about 2 mins.
Pushed hard in the long leg and tried to keep the pace up. Caught Todd heading out into the butterfly.
Stopped to retie my shoe which cost me a bit of distance on Todd. In the battle to get back onto him I managed to contour around the hill to the wrong rock clump.. Another 2 mins at least lost.
Didn't learn from that lesson quick enough and did the exact same thing again heading out onto the longer butterfly. Another 2mins lost.
Calmed myself down and darted to navigate again, catching back up to Todd just before the last couple of controls.
Great course! Had a lot of fun.
Quite happy with how my run went. Not a great time and disappointed with the time loss, but I am happy with how I felt in the forest and only a few misses to iron out for now.
