New setup on the bike. Had a bike fitting (first since I got my first racer) and saddle has been raised 4cm and stem increased 2cm, a lot longer and I am getting a lot more power down but I need even more stretch. New frame time, ouch.

80k course with a two-stage hill leading up to the finish and some long, fast and flat dual carriageway sections in the middle. After three attempts at getting away from the bunch and two laps remaining on the board I got the message that it wasn't to be and I set about making sure I was recovered and fully primed for a finish with the group.

On the last lap I knew the long climb was playing to my strengths so I burned a couple of matches earlier than planned and snuck my way into the first 15, watching the various lines of riders spread out up the hill. I managed to get a wheel with a couple of strong climers and stuck in there until the flat section before the last rise to the line, where I gave my all to kick clear and get them off my wheel. a final 200m straight up hill followed, and digging into the highest gear I could I kicked past a couple more riders as we drove for the line (swains lane reps helped out here!), bagging 3rd place and enough points for my cat 2 as well.
