NZ Champs Sprint M55 - Oamaru

Starting 1 minute behind Guy C-W and 2 behind shingo.
The start was screwed up, somebody decided to re-sync the start clock but the person who should then have been starting people was busy doing 30s late starts. Guy minute started about 20s late, mine started 30s early then came back then started late....

First few controls into botantic gardens were really tricky, didn't see Mark, but caught sight of Guy doubling back to find a bridge to get to #2. Got my map wrong way up leaving #4 and overshot bridge but still almost caught Gut at #5, he went to the E bridge.

Flipped my map on #8-#9 to look at the next half of the course, punched #9 (now marked with triangle) and then must have started navigating to #11

I think I'm 1 finish from my last 5 sprints.

Today I failed the maze in Wanaka after nearly 2 hours. I'd got the coloured towers but eventually had to use the emergency exit 40 minutes after the rest of the family gave up.

This arvo Lyra and I played 18 holes of frisbee golf - we used the excellent app from uspdga which has not only score card for the course but also showed us where each tee and hole were, something you often need in frisbee golf.

bush walk 4:30:00 [2] 18.0 km (15:00 / km) +500m 13:10 / km

Aspiring hut to Raspberry Creek car park via Rob Roy glacier walk and (just) beyond. Another ripper day weather wise.

bush walk 3:20:00 [3] 11.0 km (18:11 / km)

Aspiring hut up to the bridge after the Liverpool Hut junction return. Great weather, incredibly beautiful scenery.

Note

Great that DOC in New Zealand trust anyone to have at the wood with a long handled axe. Colllected and cut a metre high pile of trimmed logs, only for tonight's punters to keep the burner door closed - where's the fun (and heat) in that ?

bush walk 4:00:00 [2] 7.0 km (34:17 / km) +800m 21:49 / km

Aspiring hut to the viewpoint above the treeline on the Cascade Saddle track. The kids did really well, I found the stop/startness of kid bushwalking hard. Fairly brutal club through the roots and rocks.
