Sunday Nov 30, 2014 #

10 AM

Running 1:04:57 [3] 8.06 mi (8:04 / mi)

Run on the Wirral with Ben. Parked at Royden Park and ran partly on old railway trails, partly in the woods and partly on the beach. Legs very stiff starting off after yesterdays race.

Went for breakfast afterwards.
6 PM

Running 38:17 [3] 4.86 mi (7:53 / mi)

Easy run, legs feeling a lot better this evening. Listened to music for the first time in a while which was nice.

Running 37:06 [3] 6.03 mi (6:09 / mi)

Sefton XC : Around the 200 mark

I felt very tired today after a very stressful week at work. It was a very enjoyable day and it was a pleasure to run in such a top quality field. I'm trying not to get disheartened with my performance but to persevere with with training and enjoy racing.

Running 25:00 [3] 3.01 mi (8:18 / mi)

Warm down, partly with Dave, partly with Sammy and partly with the Liverpool lads.

Running 14:53 [3] 1.76 mi (8:27 / mi)

7 AM

Running 47:57 [3] 5.35 mi (8:58 / mi)

Very easy run into work, feeling shattered. Also had a large rucksack this morning. I think this is the slowest I can run without walking. A case of getting into work, for what was a horrifically busy day with lots of sick patients. I learnt a lot today though. 07:45 till 16:30 with no food and one cup of tea!

In other news, Tom Jenkins is now a consultant! Heading back to Scouseland for the XC tomorrow, can't wait to race!

Thursday Nov 27, 2014 #

7 AM

Running 45:29 [3] 5.37 mi (8:28 / mi)

Easy run to work, really hard to get up this morning after four pints of mostly Belgian Blue watching the red shite last night. The last 15 minutes I really needed to poo.
4 PM

Running 53:15 [3] 6.4 mi (8:19 / mi)

Ran to town to pick up my new touring bike. Bumped into Dave Sprot on the way back who is also game for the Nationals in February which is great news.

Easy-ish run home from work.

Note

Feeling tired and in need of a rest. Also a bit concerned about rolling my mileage too high.

Running 47:36 [3] 5.36 mi (8:53 / mi)

Easy run in with rucksack. Crisp, cold morning. Lomg day ahead.

Tired - long day.

Sunday Nov 23, 2014 #

8 AM

Running 1:58:20 [3] 15.1 mi (7:50 / mi)

The longest run I've done in three years. Ran along the Monsal trail for the first time with Mike and Paul. Felt comfortable throughout apart from needing a poo for the last thirty minutes.

Saturday Nov 22, 2014 #

9 AM

Running 43:34 [3] 6.25 mi (6:58 / mi)

Parkrun and warm down.

Official time 18:11. 20th Place!

Was very excited on the start line, the first mile was very quick and I was well into the red. People started to pass me and I had no balls today, no energy for surging and couldn't maintain a good pace after going off too fast. Not too concerned with the time as I know my performances can be erratic. I think thekey for me here is to not overthink things and plod on with training.
Looking forward to the upcoming races over the next few weeks, I think I just need to find my zone and work in it as opposed to trying to run like a runner I am not at the moment.

An awesome morning, I felt good beforehand and only just got in The Premier League!

Man flu is now behind me and I'm feeling much better. I'm still producing a lot of poop though. Condition were good and there was a big group again.

Tonight's session went well, much better than I expected. I was focusing on keeping my arms and shoulders relaxed tonight in a forced attempt to be done with my flappy arms.

I paired up with MikeS and I recovered whilst he ran.

Crimicar Lane loop. Running felt easy and enjoyable this evening, just seeing off the back end of a cold so didn't want to push to hard. My heart rate was really low, this run at this intensity six weeks ago would have felt a lot harder. Obvious, I know but it's nice to feel like your moving in the right direction.
Coughing and choking on my own phlegm a lot. I think I might invest in a nebuliser to have before my runs.

Running 9:08 [3] 0.81 mi (11:16 / mi)

Easy run, coughing and spluttering. I'm a firm believer that with a mild viral infection of the respiratory tract some light exercise does more good than harm, generally. A session would be foolish.

Running 1:00:03 [3] 6.86 mi (8:45 / mi)

Easy evening run through the parks with head torch. I was being very careful with my footing as still getting used to running with headtorch.
I stopped just short of the Alpaca Farm to turn off my light and look at the stars.

Hallamshire session at Woodbourn Road. After cycling home slightly early from work I really didn't want to head out tonight and was feeling quite unenthused about the session. The session that I ended up doing was 5 x 1200m with 90s recovery. My legs tonight felt good, I was working hard and not holding back. By the last rep I felt well and truly finished and thought I was going to bomb out but managed to hang on.

A lovely morning for a long run, fresh and crisp. I started off with Will Mycroft, Bertie Houton and Jonathon Collier. My legs were feeling very heavy after last nights session. I expected this and after a few miles Bertie and Jonathon pulled away and I continued on my own loop around Lady Cannings and then done a loop around part of the moor onto the path that links up Fox House and Ringinglow. Fell shoes would have been much better as I was slipping a lot. Glad to get the longest run in of the current campaign albeit a very slow, heavy legged one.

5 PM

Running 58:29 [3] 8.0 mi (7:19 / mi)

Session on the grass in Endcliffe Park. I did 3 x 10 minutes with roughly three minutes recovery. It was extremly muddy in the park tonight, however not as muddy as it can get. The mud was above ankle and gave me a good above knee covering once the session was done. This will be good preperation for the cross races upcoming. I felt like I was running at what should be 'tempo/threshold' pace for me, it was comfortable but I never felt like I was in the red. I think this is something I need to start doing more often. The paces were reasonable considering my 5km race pace at the moment but I'm sure the mud slowed me down considrably.

I also ran using a head torch tonight which is a new experience for me. It takes a little getting used to as you have to constantly focus on your footing but good fun and I hope to do some more night runs.

Paces:
Effort 1: 6.23/mile
Effort 2: 6.19/mile
Effort 3: 6.13/mile

Planned to do 4 X mile off a minute in the Margit-ziget stadium. However after the first mile I felt tired and heavy after lots of good food and beer. However at the point I decided to bin the session Dom, her mum and the dog Zira walked in to watch. I had to do something so did 10 X 200 (200jog).

1 mile: 5.40
10 × 200 (200jog) all 33-35

Had a full body massage afterwards.

Running 1:00:00 [3] 9.21 mi (6:31 / mi)

I'm on annual leave this week and we are visiting Dominica's parents who live in Budapest. They are a sporting family, Do m's Dad plays Vets Table Tennis for Slovakia. They love finding good places for me to run which is great.

We drove out to margit-sziget which is an Island in the middle of the Danube river. The awesome thing about this island is that there is a single lane tartan running track around the whole island! Sadly part of it was being repaired so couldn't quite loop around but it was still pretty awesome. This along with my new Glide Boosts made for a very comfortable run.

I felt really good, better than I have felt in ages, started off at 6.30s and kept it around that pace, the list mile or so just dipping under 6 minutes.

After the run we visited a thermal spa which was great for recovery.

Sheffield Parkrun: 17.32 official time.

Tough going, first mile felt easy and then up the parks second time I kept falling back and surging forward - good battle with Mike, who wasn't feeling his best pushing me to a new Parkrun PB.

Now Mike along with Ben hates my SURGING - sorry chaps!
