Grand Ridge-Duthie-Soaring Eagle 2.5 minute burst of flava. Today was my fourth MTB riding day in a row, and my sixth day of hard riding in the last seven days. Despite riding 18.5 hours with 19,000' of climbing over the last week, I felt decent, at least decent enough for a 2.5 minute burst of effort.

Grand Ridge-HP-PP Opportunity knocks. I was going to take a DOB today, as I am tired from lots of riding. I made a last minute decision that riding MTB was the best thing to do, since it was a sunny 77 degree perfect day. Living a short ride to the TH means not having to load a bike and kit into a car and battling traffic. That created an opportunity, and I seized it.

Grand Ridge-Duthie-Soaring Eagle The worst thing about mountain biking doesn't involve riding. Scatiante has got to be the worst name possible for a bicycle...I spent twenty minutes cleaning dog crap off of my bike. Most days I am able to miss the slugs, mice, and snakes on the trail, be they dead or alive. Bears and horses tend to drop their junk right in the middle of the trail, so that's easy to avoid. I see tons of deer, but very few pellets, so they must do their duty deep in the woods. But flying down the trails, occasionally dog shit left by a moron dog owner goes undetected. I guess it just blends in better.

PP-HP-Grand Ridge-Duthie-Soaring Eagle I didn't miss the candy until I was in the store. It's been a week since I have ridden MTB. I don't think I have had a single thought about missing the mountain bike, because I am really loving my road riding, especially at this time of the year. But to put things in perspective, I did feel like a kid in a candy store for my entire ride today. I have moments where I feel like that on the road bike, but just moments.

Chelan-Waterville Canyon-Badger Mountain-Wenatchee Vicious 1-2 combination, but not quite a knockout (except the Killer Badger Nordwand) 1) Chelan Century Saturday 2) This brutal hot ride on Sunday 1a) Waterville Canyon 2a) The "North Face" of Badger Mountain, which makes the last 1.5m of McNeil Canyon seem like a beach bike path. My average speed on Badger was more like a hike-a-bike than riding a road bike, and it felt like I was on the 6000' Eiger Nordwand. Tracy met me at a Starbucks after I descended the south side of Badger into the 95 degree blast furnace of Wenatchee. She had an apple fritter waiting for me! I love her.
