Orienteering 51:00 [3]

Pittwater Southern Regional Champs. Stuffed up the first control by 2.5 minutes but luckily my stuffing around was put to an end when I came across our number 2 (phew!). Aside from that had a pretty good run - slow into control circles but that's the only way I can do it at pittwater!

Orienteering 24:00 [3]

Sprint Champs - St Virgils school and adjacent bushland. Fun area with lots of tracks and school buildings. Lost over a minute when I flipped the map at the map-flip control but then north was south and south was north and I ended up very confused and nearer control 20 than control 18. Looking at winsplits I'd already lost a minute by that point to Clare anyway - Clare won by 2mins overall. 2 in a row for Clare!

Orienteering 34:19 [3]

Waterworks - testing out my foot which seemed ok after a week's layoff. Dead heated with Clare which was amusing

Note

Foot still very sore. Not sure why but will consider this a long taper into the Tas Sprint Champs the weekend after next!

Orienteering race 1:07:00 [3]

Took 20 minutes to punch the first control due to following my nose not my compass, but then my relocaiton efforts were hampered by the fact I was under the clue-descriptions on the map (see blog photo). hmmph. Apart from that I ran ok although my foot got very sore about half way though.

Orienteering race 22:00 [3]

Sprint Race 1 in Burnie. Despite forecast hurricane conditions it was actually quite ok, if a little slippy. Had to upgrade myself to W35 when I realised I actually entered the kids in course 3 while i was running course 4. So I ran course 3 as well to give them a chance at splits cash. Jett got the most of it, beating me in 5 legs. Zali just 1.

Orienteering race 23:00 [3]

Sprint Race 2 - Burnie. Had a bit of a brain fade on the way to number 2 - suspect I was distracted by starting my watch and not paying attention to how far I'd come. Also did a dodgy route choice later on. This time it was Zali picking up $5 worth of splits cash, Jett got $1 - so they both got $6 for the two races and ran twice as far as they would have if they'd entered their age-class.

Running 1:05:36 [3]

Usual Ferntree, Springs, Sphinx Rock, Ferntree loop,
20:25 to the springs which is the 2nd fastest I've ever done it and that was 7 years or so ago so I'm pretty darn happy with that. I'm not sure if you get the fastest time by going fast early when it's flatter, and just surviving the rest, or if you try to lift the pace a little in the steep stuff.

Running 30:00 [3]

Alum Cliffs - just a crusy run to see how my foot would be with 2 days running in a row. It seems to be fine.

Peter Murrell Reserve - didn't want to do the usual so I took a brand new track and it was so lovely! photo on blog.

Orienteering 49:00 [3]

Super fun orienteering event at Calverts Beach. I seemed to spend a lot of time relocating but I certainly wasn't the only one. In fact compared to many competitors, I had a pretty good run - ha!
