Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

Auchinloch loop on a gloriously sunny morning. Headwind on the way out, which made for a speedy cruise home. Chain still jumping around despite my best efforts at fiddling with it.

Running 20:00 [1]

Abortive attempt at a run up the river...got as far as the Botanics and decided to turn round. Legs still in pieces after Sunday's efforts, and the muscles round my R hip are also pretty stiff. More stretching required.

Cycling 35:00 [3]

Spin around north Glasgow on a very warm and sticky afternoon. Sweated a fair bit.

Note

Stiff and achey in places, but no worse than expected. Definitely time for an easy week.

Running 1:50:00 [3]

Decided I should do something a bit special to mark Jukola weekend so had a go at Malcolm's 12 Hills of North Glasgow route (see here for details). Basically it's a hilly half marathon, mostly on tarmac but with some off-road bits - and a spooky tunnel! I ran it all on map memory, starting and finishing at the Roberts statue, and took a few different route choices from those shown (Malcolm's challenge encouraged this), though I'm not sure any were significantly quicker. I did manage to lose time in Sighthill cemetery due to not knowing the path layout (running straight across the graves didn't seem a good idea), as well as a couple of micro-route errors.

Pleased to survive it (just) despite tired legs from Friday, and happy with the time which was around what I was aiming for. I reckon it would be faster on a less humid day, and without summer veg. Might have a go in winter to look for an improved time.

Running warm up/down 10:00 [1]

Warm down was a shuffle - really very tired by the end!

Orienteering 32:00 [4]

Maprun course at Baljaffray (minus the tech required to do it officially). A bit of a shock to the system in many ways. Thankfully, the navigation involved was sufficiently basic even my stellar levels of rustiness couldn't quite lead to catastrophe, though I had to rapidly rediscover the concept of planning ahead. Definitely had a couple of suboptimal routes, but felt I was getting things together by the end. Surprised how the time compares with others, but probably benefited from starting steadily due to bike legs.

Running 10:00 [1]

Very brief warm up jog, and a trundle to the viewpoint at control 3 and back to warm down.

Cycling 50:00 [3]

Up to Baljaffray Lidl and back, the return home involving a detour to visit the Robertson household for an enjoyable (and suitably distanced) garden chat. Quite breezy when heading home along Maryhill Road.
