Running race 10:14 [5]

Ran the JWOC Trials 3,000m run in 10:14. Didn't have anyone to run with and it was much longer then my usual 800m's. Very tough.

Running 40:00 [3] 4.5 mi (8:53 / mi)

Ran a 4 mile jog at 8:15 mile pace, then ran a mile of alternating hundred meter jogs and sprints.

Wasn't feeling my best today, but ran an alright 2:07 in the 800m.

Meet tomorrow, we took an easy four mile jog at a 8:00 minute mile pace then ran two laps of alternating hundred jogs and sprints.

Ran a 2 mile warm up then hit the track for 3 sets of 3, 300m dashes. We ran the first in the set at a 17 second 100m pace, the second at a 16 second 100m pace, and the third in the set at a 15 second 100m pace. Then ran a mile cool down.

Orienteering race 2:15:04 [3] 7.0 km (19:18 / km)

Rather cruddy start to the West Point meet. Made a rookie mistake right off the bat by orienting my map opposite and ended up going for a 20 minute adventure before understanding my mistake. The terrain was extremely different from anything I've experienced and I really enjoyed the course. My body was still recovering from the meet yesterday and I made some poor route choices.

Running race 2:05 [5]

Ran a 2:05.3 800m for the 4x800m relay. Our relay team qualified for states.
Then ran a 2:08 to win my heat in the open 800m.

Running 40:00 [2]

Ran a slow 6:15 mile for NJROTC then ran 2 miles for track. Gearing up for a big meet Friday.

Running race 55 [5] 0.4 km (2:17 / km)

Ran a 400m relay with a time of 55 seconds, happy with that considering I'm mostly a distance runner.

Warm up/Cool down for the meet.

Did my daily 2 sets of 20 push ups, 1:00 plank, 20 push ups, 1:00 plank, 20 push ups.

Running 30:00 [3] 4.0 mi (7:30 / mi)

Easy 4 mile jog to recover for a meet tomorrow. I'm running a 4x400m relay.

PT 10:00 [2]

Did my daily 2 sets of 20 push ups, 1:00 plank, 20 push ups, 1:00 plank, 20 push ups. Starting to feel results.

Running intervals 1:10:00 [5] 5.0 mi (14:00 / mi)

Ran a 1 mile warm up, then hit the track for eight 400m's with an average pace of 70 seconds got a 100m walk in between each with a 400m walk halfway through. Started out hitting 67's and then slowed down to a 73 on the last 400m.

After that we ran three sets of 200m at around 30 seconds, then went for a 3/4 mile cool down.

Nice short and slow jog to enjoy the beautiful weather.

Running intervals 45:00 [5] 4.0 mi (11:15 / mi)

Ran a short warm up then hit the track for a middle distance workout. Ran 3 300m at a 17 second 100m pace then 3 more at 16 second 100m pace, then 3 at 15 second 100m pace. Then a cool down.

Did my daily set of 20 pushups, 1:00 plank, 20 pushups, 1:00 plank, 20 pushups after waking up and before going to bed.

Running hills 42:00 [4] 5.6 mi (7:30 / mi) +200m 6:45 / mi

Ran a nasty hill circuit four times with a pick up up hill each time. Very tough.

Did my daily set of 20 pushups, 1:00 plank, 20 pushups, 1:00 plank, 20 pushups after waking up and before going to bed.

Sunday Apr 9, 2017 #

Orienteering race 20:00 [5] 2.8 km (7:09 / km) +13m 6:59 / km

Second ever sprint course and I felt I did solid. I focused on safe routes and control exits, but could've done better to run faster.

Orienteering race 16:47 [5] 2.9 km (5:47 / km) +20m 5:36 / km

Ran the second sprint course and was very satisfied with my results.

Saturday Apr 8, 2017 #

Orienteering race 2:57:00 [3] 8.9 km (19:53 / km) +585m 14:58 / km

Messed up the second control, and started having slight stomach pain on my way to 3. It slowly progressed to the point where I could no longer run and opted to walk the rest of the course. When it became too painful to walk, and my decision making ability became impaired I laid down and rested for 10 minutes. Upon raising all trace of stomach pain was gone and I scrambled to finish the course within the 3 hour time limit.

Orienteering race 53:47 [4] *** 5.2 km (10:21 / km) +80m 9:36 / km

Finished the first half of the course no sweat with perfect splits, then got hit hard with bad compass bearings and lack of attention to detail.

Thursday Apr 6, 2017 #

Running hills 44:00 [3] 6.1 mi (7:13 / mi) +100m 6:52 / mi

Ran 6.1 miles today at a 7:10 with some moderate hills. My shin splints were killing me, so I plan on icing and soaking them heartily.

Wednesday Apr 5, 2017 #

Running race 2:09 [5] 0.8 km (2:41 / km)

Ran my first 800m today. Ran the first leg of my 4x800m relay team and smoked everyone else and was happy with my 2:09 time. My goal was sub 2:10 and I am happy with it as a starting point this season.

Running race 2:14 [5] 0.8 km (2:47 / km)

Ran in the open 800m race around 30 minutes after my first race. It was much harder then the first and my 5 second increase certainly showed it. Placed 5th out of 21 boys.

Did my daily two sets of 20 pushups, 1:00 plank, 20 pushups, 1:00 plank, 20 pushups. Starting to notice a slight improvement with the planks and pushups.

Running warm up/down 30:00 [1] 3.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Ran a total of three miles during my warm up/cool down for the track meet.

Did 3 sets of 20 pushups and 2 sets of 1:00 planks after waking up and before going to sleep today. Focused on perfect form and really felt the planks.

We took it easy today to prepare for tomorrow's meet, ran a slow 4 miles at around 10:00 mile pace. Shin splints are beginning to bother me and I've started icing and soaking in epsom salt after practice.

Monday Apr 3, 2017 #

Running (Interval) 1:00:00 [5] 6.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Ran a 1 mile warm up then hit the track for three sets of 200m, 200m, 500m. Jogged half the distance we ran as a recovery and consistently met my goal of 35 seconds for the 200m's and 89 seconds for the 500m's. Then we ran 10 minutes at a 6:15 miles pace and finished with a 200, 100, 50 meter all out sprint and a half mile cool down.

Looking forward to the first meet of the season this Wednesday where I will run the open 800m and the 4x800m relay.

Also, gearing up for this weekend's Flying Pig.

PT 12:00 [3]

Did 20 pushups, 1 minute plank, 20 pushups, 1 minute plank, and 20 pushups after waking up and before going to bed today. I focused on perfect form and really felt the exercises working the targeted muscle groups.

I am going to make it a goal to make this a daily habit. Slowly increasing the repetitions and time.

Orienteering race 49:00 [4] *** 7.0 km (7:00 / km) +100m 6:32 / km

DNF a local QOC blue course. Right from the start I felt nauseous while running and it definitely affected my speed. Made it to point 13 and finally called it quits.
